Think we need Cerny or Murphy in for Green.
Clint and Nelsen as CB's (I'd give Nelsen a go if we haven't got a desperately needed new CB in)
We need Derry as DCM not Park who looks out of position there, if if we haven't got a desperately needed new DCM in.
I'd play 4 2 3 1 with Derry and Diakite in the 2, and Hoillet, Adel and Cisse in the 3, BZ up front.

    -----------------Cerny---------------
    Bosingwa----Nelson ------Hill-----Traore
    ------------Derry-------Diakite--------
    Cisse-------------Adel-------------Hoillett
    ---------------------BZ---------------

Completely agree with both these posts . Green is our biggest worry as your never sure when he's going to blow up.

Any bloody player should be able to run and tackle. Defensive midfielders are in my opinion simple players. Park and diakite should never have been bought if they can't run or tackle.

I'd go with that Oslo. Maybe Fery for Hill.

Park is not a central midfielder, certainly not a defensive one and Diakite had to cope with 2 Swansea CM plus Michu dropping back as well.

    Good post Bob,
After last season I thought we needed 5 new signings which would basically be a backbone Keeper, centre back, Central Midfield, Striker and a utility defensive player and I honestly believe that would have been enough to integrate and blend with the existing players.

However we have ended up with 8 with a good possibility of 2 or 3 more players to come and virtually everyone on the board stating that we need 1 of these 2 of them and 3 of the other.
Surely trying to blend so many new faces has its pitfalls and MH has given us our 3rd face lift in 18 months, where is the stability in that?

The point being this squad is going to take a lot of time to work because the more new faces the longer it takes, obviously, which raises the question that we are clearly not a big enough club to house so many ego's and how is MH going to cope before the dressing room is lost? Might be a premature to say that but I feel this will become an issue if we lose against Norwich and 3 hard games to follow we could be on zero points after 5 games and the pressure mounts and players can start to become restless!

I said this last season after the Wigan game. Stop telling me there's 37 games to go. Yesterday was probably identified as 3 point potential by Hughes. Not all 38 games will give us points.

Next week we have probably another 3 point potential identified by Hughes and a shambolic performance like yesterday cannot be accepted. We need to start delivering or the pressure will ramp us massively.

To lose yes I can live with that but a 5 nil thumping is nowhere near acceptable.

Worse case scenario is zero points after five games. The following two are West Ham at home and Albion away both of who looked half decent yesterday. So, or four points after Albion or Hughes can fùck right off imo. He was hired in a desparate situation let's make sure it doesn't have to get that far this time.

For me the biggest tactical problem, as has been said numerous times was the formation and the players playing in that formation.

The midfield would have worked as a five if it hadnt been so attacking. The only 'defensive' player in the 5 was diakite, who needs a proper defensive player behind him - like derry.

We just got so overrun and diakite couldnt cope against a team so good in possession. Playing Park, Taarabt, Hoilett and Mackie was a mistake.

Spot on Flyer, Diakte was expected to deal with two players, second goal Park let Michu run past him and didnt' mark him, last goal Adel let Dyer go. These two players aren't CM with defensive qualities, we need someone to support Diakite else we'll see more of the same. Not saying he was a saint in the game but there was little help there for him. Need to play to our strengths which at the moment is wide and sure up our weakness which is the middle, hopefully sorted when Ale is back.
