And yet phelan who was Bruce's assistant at the time had nothing to do with any of the choices. Phelan, who then became manager had these player signed against his will? Give over. 2 of them were from his former club for **** sake.
Buck stops with Allams but Phelan isn't giving Hull City a chance... http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/12/06/mike-phelans-tactics-are-not-giving-hull-city-a-chance/
heh the players are a set of individuals, they need a main mind to give them instructions............... a manager?
if Phelan was so influential alongside Bruce he'd have wanted him at Villa - he didn't - I appreciate your desperate like one or two others on here to blame someone for the utter mess on the pitch but Phelan is not the main culprit - its the Allams and Bruce - maybe if he'd put more effort into securing a decent back up for both full backs rather than give Rosie away so he could give his sicknote son a multi year contract maybe just maybe we wouldn't be in half the mess we are
Plt doesn't go to games how is that supporting?
He believes, like me, that staying away is the best hope we have of ridding his club of the Allams.
Hard to compare as Bruce was always backed incredibly well in his PL seasons with us. Phelan has been give pretty much nothing
Phelan is worse ? Yeah , he got the job by default Nobody thinks he's a good manager , he's never even managed before , to have somebody that inexperienced is ridiculous but that's the way it is and that is down to the owners
Tactics that worked a treat against Leicester and Swansea. Phelan has barely any attacking threat available right now, and that diminishes further when Snodgrass plays poorly. So calling for more attacking play is simply calling for something that isn't possible to deliver. The people calling for Phelan's head now. How many were predicting back in August that we would get a single digit points total by May? By that measure he has already overachieved massively.
Can we! Disagree about the other things Allam has done. Bloody hell I cannot think there is anyone left who agrees with them. Is there? Really?
I don't know how you can say Phelan's far worse - we have more points on the board than under Bruce and we now have a poorer team - Bruce lost to Leicester, Swansea, Southampton, Stoke away, Newcastle at Home, got us dumped out of the EFL Cup , Phelan's got us in the semis - I think you're blinkered by your 'In Bruce we Trust' and 'the best manager we ever had' nonsense
You talk as if he went out of his way to have it. He jumped at the opportunity he'll never get again. Any ****er would have done that.
I actually heard it from a Villa fan that Phelan went to Ehab and told him of the offer and that's when Ehab panicked and gave him his contract.
I just don't think Phelan has the experience needed to manage a team like ours. At Man Utd where he gained the bulk of his experience, they never needed to consider tactics as intricately as is required at a poor side. We cant count on our players to just go out and play to there potential and win, we need to study the opposition. We need to play to our strengths as much as possible of course, but we also need to identify weakness in whoever we play and attempt to exploit that. I just don't see any of that with Phelan. I Understand he is up against it with injuries and a threadbare squad, however even when championship clubs play prem teams (especially bottom half teams), they can normally be competitive, losing perhaps to moments of class or being punished more effectively from lapses in concentration. That been said, we should be able to go out and give boro a good game with the squad we have.
I think it's a load of cack, Bruce was never linked with Phelan for his No.2 and they definitely weren't on good terms here.
