He was at fault for both, a massive lack of proper communication to his defenders on both occasions. And factor in his Norwich and Rotherham antics, he's becoming a total clown in most games now, he's gotta be dropped simple as that. Elliott's fit and is always dependable and whilst not being world class, doesn't tend to commit howlers like Darlow is making his trademark.
Not if he is off form he isn't. He has made a number of mistakes recently. Four significant ones in recent games which led to three goals, a world class save and, more importantly, dropped points. Yes, everyone makes mistakes but his are affecting games and points. He needs to be dropped, firstly, to get a point across to him namely you can't keep making mistakes and expect to play. Secondly, to give him a break as he is still young and learning in goalkeeper terms. I would only drop him if Elliott is fit which I presume is the case as he was on the bench last Saturday. Not for Sels as I don't get the impression the defence trust Sels.
Bread and butter stuff to Elliott. Still another nervy 45 minutes with Darlow in goal and hoping he doesn't drop another bollock. Anyway, I'm surprised you're not calling for Haidara to play in nets.
He's scary Darlow at present. Great shot stopper. But ****ing clueless on crosses and sometimes just seems elsewhere mentally.
If this is the main criteria we should get Obi in - he must be world class. He wouldn't stay on his line - he wouldnt fit between the posts.
Almost cost us another goal last night. Literally having a howler a game which we simply can't have when we're chasing promotion.
Some decent saves you'd expect him to make, but a huge error right at the start of the second half being out-jumped and allowing the Brighton guy to get a header in...thankfully the header was slow and looping and super Dummett made a clearance; if it had been a hard and direct header we've have been 2-0 down. 2-0 Right at the start of the second half would have totally changed the game and killed all our momentum from the first half. Thankfully the defence was very strong last night, and he didn't have too much to do.
That still could have gone in as it was a horrible ball to try and clear, Darlow I think unsettles the defence at times because he does not command his area well, seen too many times when he could have come for balls but held back leaving the defender to deal with it and putting them under more pressure than necessary, they could do with some work on the coaching side to try and improve the way they work together but Darlow is far from the finished item as a goalkeeper, needs to work harder and concentrate on his game.
I think Rafa came out praising him for great performance last night. So I guess he is sticking by his man.
Darlow's just a kid in GK terms. He's doing ok, fellas. Nobody's better in our current set-up, Rafa knows that, hence the praise.
Apparently Rafa told Darlow he had dropped him. Darlow tried to pick himself up but only succeeded in dropping himself again.
Darlow is a tricky one. I think he definitely has a lot of talent and could be a real asset for us going forward. His shot stopping is excellent, and it's definitely a case of 'what if' when you look back to him not playing in the Hull game - especially with his amazing record at penalties. However, his decision making is far from the best, although i think that is something that can be coached into him. In the short term I think it could be time to bring in Elliot. He was in the best form of his life when he got injured. Obviously we won't know until he plays again if that form will continue, but I think it's time to give him a go and take the heat off Darlow for a while and let him get back to basics.
Superb keeper, some suspect players in front of him though, Colback and Dummett especially Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
