The issues with Boyd are where is his best position and where does he best fit in our system? Can't argue that he's had a good start to the season, but he probably fits best on the left for us, and once Brady's fully fit that spot will be taken, and you can't play him and Aluko together really. Could possibly pick him on the right but he's never looked comfortable there to me.
I pointed this out previously he has three reserve outings this season, which is less playing time than Harper has had this season before last nights game.
Completely agree with this. I think quite a lot of people, including myself, overlooked Boyd at the start of the season and didn't foresee him playing a key role in the team. Although he certainly made an impact when he first joined the club, he faded slightly towards the end of last season which I think resulted in many underestimating him. He's definitely made a strong start to this season however, and has looked good in every game I've seen him play this season.
He played 3 games didn't he? Huddersfield, Everton and Spurs? Which is the same. I don't know, I just think he was unfairly knocked and he at least showed last night that he can be called upon if necessary.
I've always been a big fan of Boyd. He was described as a "young Pele" when banging them in for Stevenage at 17, he was what made Peterboro tick, and I was amazed we got him so cheap. He has moves that most players can only dream about. He should be a regular in our first team based on his talent, energy, and goal scoring threat. But where to play him? I'd like to see him on LW and Brady moved up front as striker. He's in great form...MOM at Spurs IMO. With Brady probably only ready for a short shift on Saturday Boyd should start as LW with Sagbo/Gedo up front. As for Yak, he's been unfairly slagged off for one bad game. He's extremely agile, great shot stopper. A tendency to fumble is his main weakness. But definitely a very good back up to McGregor and Harps, and well worth keeping for when Harps retires.
Boyd gives us something extra - he's got this silky ability to beat a man, out-fox opponents. He's great to watch - there was that moment when he nutmegged the Spurs defender last Sunday.. class player
That nutmeg by Boyd was brilliant...left Walker in the dust. Similar to Suarez nutmeg for his first goal last week. Boyd has moves that no one else on our team has. And he works bloody hard.
