From what I saw of you today it's not enough to be panicking. You look a decent side, just need to have more confidence and not get complacent when going ahead.

There were moments towards the end where you threatened to bring the game back into your control and while we were good value for the 3 points a draw might have been a fair result as well.

I think it was more our closing down your players than lack of quality. From what I am hearing of your other losses so far this season, sounds like you've suffered the same problem today - a good performance but letting yourselves down at key moments and letting the opposition into the game too much.

Chaps, the important question is: What's going better? Your play-off push or ours for a Europe place? <laugh>

Sounds like we've both had a bad day at the office.

Warkster - I'm not apportioning blame to McCarthy, but four defeats in our opening five is abysmal. It's not about signing players, he's lost his mojo.

We were sloppy today and he said afterwards he thought we played well again, we didn't.

To compete in this league now we need to be a lot more masterful on the ball and put our foot on it, slow the game down and find our own players when we're under pressure.

I want to see Mills in, he can see the wood for the trees.

We need to add creativity from somewhere, whether its changing the formation or just changing the players. Forme i would like to see us changing to 4 2 3 1, with wordy or taylor playing off didds, and skuse and hyam holding the midfield.

Going on to the game, hewitt was at fault for the first by letting varney get goalside, the second one did get a deflection but loachy should deal with it, i still believe we will be in the mix at the end but we really need to keep cressy and hopefully create some spark. Also i feel carlos needs resting ashe is struggling.

    Which one’s “Didds”??

That was the first game this season I’ve actually witnessed, but I’m inclined to agree with Westy’s analysis (apart from Hyam) and your three man midfield. A hoofing 4-4-2 is nay use these days.

Two from Tunnicliffe, Hyam and Scuse behind Wordsworth, with Taylor taking the attacking midfield right and Anderson or Murphy on t’other side. McGoldrick (Didds?) or whoever you prefer up front. Otherwise we’ll be forever outnumbered in midfield and always looking to the hopeful punt. I get the impression that McGoldrick could play the attacking central midfield role behind a striker, but what do I know?

Is it just me or have I yet to see Edwards putting in a decent cross?

Have to agree, I don't think the status quo will do, we can't continue to play the same players or the same formation, there's just not much about our first 11 atm.

I like McGoldrick but I'm not convinced he can play as the 'main striker' as it were, that's my main concern with playing 1 upfront, we have 4 support strikers who IMO would all be better playing with a 'penalty box' striker like DJ Campbell or of the like!! I'd like to see us go either 433 with a solid Midfield and then Taylor and McGoldrick upfront with one of Murphy or Nouble, or maybe even a diamond 442 (which we nearly play anyway), this would mean our fullbacks (who look like the only players who could create something) can get forward easier but then at the same time as we saw yesterday with a team playind a midfield diamond, it often leaves a hell of a lot of space down the flanks for the opposition!!

Agree JJ, is it me or has Edwards yet to put in a good performance for us on the RW in all his 4 years playing for us???

We have just been a bit unlucky in my opinion, we are streets ahead of the performances from this time last year we have competed in every game so far and against teams that will be there or there abouts come the end of the season.

I think with a little time our performances will become more consistant, against leeds we had spells in which we were awesome playing some great creative football and dominating but the equaliser knocked the wind out of our sails and Leeds took advantage of that.

Keeping the same line up is the way forward rather than chopping and changing(Jewell) a settled side will reep rewards you take my word for it, and as for people calling for new signings i think that MM will coach what he has rather trying to solve problems with a cheque book and i for one think this is the way forward.

Oh and what a goal from Goldie.....................

Agree we were unlucky with the goals we conceded yesterday but we're missing what we were this time last season. I actually thought this time last season we showed some touches of quality but we weren't competing as it were, we're now competing just not having that quality on the ball but I geuss this is the point you have to start from, competing in every match!!

We did look half decent in spells against Leeds yesterday, keeping the ball nicely and playing good football but if it weren't for Cresswell I don't think we would have created alot, everything on the whole came from him. We're alot more comfortable in posession than we were under Mick last season and this is because of Skuse but whilst we are generally limiting teams to half chances we also don't appear to be able to create anything that clear cut!!

I do like that Mick has put a squad together and they're our players and he's going to coach them, I mean under Keane if a player had a poor performance rather than trying to stick with it, he'd get someone else in, that was ridiculous. However I do feel there are certain areas we are very poor and I don't see us getting alot better in those areas with the players we currently have particularly if we keep on playing a traditional 442. We criticised Jewell because he said he was a 442 man but he never bought the players to fit into that system but Mick has so far basically done the same.

I've been championing for us to sign another CM but actually I think Tabb and Tunicliffe could do a decent job there alongside Skuse, for me we need 2 wingers and a striker and I'd be much more happy!
