I don't see why so many people are surprised the away kit has no black and amber in it; we've had loads of blue away kits in the last few years. The thing I find weird is the random reddy/orangey socks which are just irrelevant. They look like we forgot to bring socks and had to borrow some from the opposition.
Dresden starting eleven - McGregor, Chester, Davies, Figueroa, Elmo, Brady, Meyler, Koren, Quinn, Aluko, Sagbo Eintracht B'weig - Harper Chester McShane Figueroa Rossy Brady Boyd Tie Bi Quinn Aluko Graham From the reports the starting eleven played OK first half, with 5 playing today that started in Dresden seem to be fairly certain to be in SB starting eleven, it would seem that the Dresden eleven are not far off our best team at the moment. McGregor will take the place of Harper, Davis will take the place of McShane, If we go for 433 I personally would go for Rossy over Elmo, So the questions marks are Meyler/Koren/Boyd/Tei Bi/ if we keep him and Sagbo or Graham.
If I had my way we'd have a black-and-amber striped shirt, black shorts and amber socks at home. Away we'd have a white shirt, white shorts and amber socks, or white shirt, sky blue shorts and sky blue socks. Wunderbar.
How many goals have we scored in pre season friendlies? (discounting games against non league opposition) I know they are 'non competitive games' but surely they should be used for more than just fitness? We can't use the first 10-15 games of the PL season to find our shooting boots. One goal against Dresden and a penalty v Brum?
There were a few against Ferriby and Winterton too. Don't worry about it, Brucey was experimenting. We'll see our starting XI against Betis, most likely (unless Dawson plays, obviously he won't be starting.)
My concern exactly, yes they are friendlies but a one goal haul from open play must worry SB. It appears not only are we not scoring we are not creating chances. Other teams are scoring plenty in their pre season games even though they do not count.
Some games, such as Ferriby and Winterton, are clearly for fitness first and foremost. On the other hand, why would we be playing Braunschweig if it wasn't because they're worthy opposition? Friendlies are for getting your players to gel. In the games against Wednesday, Braga, Brum, *****borough, Dresden and Braunschweig we've scored only thee goals, and only one was scored by a striker. That's reason to be concerned.
Amber socks are ****ing horrible, I'd rather we wore no socks at all. The new hooped socks are excellent. Pre seasons are ****, they always are, they tell you nothing about a teams ability, they're nothing more than training games. The last time we stayed up in the Premier League we got tonked by Winterton and Crewe in the pre-seasons.
Alright, not 'gel'. But you'd think that in six games, against the opponents we've faced, we'd have done a bit better goal-wise.
You would have thought so, yes... We still arnt done in the transfer window though and Bruce knows we're seriously lacking creative midfielders.. hopefully we can bring a couple in before the end of the window and then we might start to see goals.
I know what you mean by being ****. However, I'd have liked some emphasis on our goal shy team to be pointed in the right direction of the onion bag. Whilst it isn't an indicator, I'd be much happier if we were scoring frequently, but we aren't. This has been an issue since our second season in the PL. Regardless of opposition in competitive and non competitive games, we still don't seem to have addressed it, even with different personnel in the team. Hopefully the midfield targets will help supplies. With one friendly remaining, I don't want the first games in the PL to be where we have to 'learn' to score.
Nobody has said that, moron. I'm not sure if you've watched us at any point in the past five years, but we've been ****e attacking-wise for ages. It's natural to be concerned when you miss out on your two priority striking targets, get a loanee and a foreign nobody in as replacements, and then average half-a-goal per game in the six friendlies you play against professional opposition. Yawn. Another thick **** who knows nothing about football.
They don't. But we haven't scored many over the past 4 or 5 seasons, this looks to have continued into PSFs, so forgive me, but we look again like a low scoring team. Clean sheets will get you draws, but goals win games.
