The Tigers Trust manage the arena now, it is a fully functioning community hub. The Trust worked with 34,000 people throughout lockdown. They are the new operators of the arena.
The Trust is the community arm of the football club, it is a registered charity, we the OSC, partner and support the Trust both financially and in its work.
IN THE FUTURE, more people will benefit from the arena than ever did whilst the SMC ran it.
Learn lessons from the past and move on for goodness sake.

In the Arena Bar, every home game we (the OSC) have a raffle and open the box competition, one couple come in and sit in the bar area, drink coffee from their flask and eat their sandwiches, when they are asked if they want to buy any raffle tickets they always say "No. we don't want anything to do with the Allams". It used to anger me, other supporters had to stand whilst these freeloaders spouted their nonsense. One day, I stopped being angry as I realised that I had sold a winning ticket to the very next table and they had dipped out on a £185 prize. **** em. They live in the past and not the present.
I think there's some more, and repeated, communications needed to be honest.

Whether some like it or not the Arena was tainted by the things that happened, or, if you like, how people interpreted the things that happened.

I liked the post above about the refurb, it looks really good, and I read the article.

Probably me scan reading, but that's what lots of people do, but I didn't realise the Trust were actually managing the Arena. I read it that the club were managing it, but the Trust had refurbed it and were using it for some community work.

I think for the taint to go away, for some people, there needs to be clear communications that by buying a beer there you aren't putting money into the Allam's pocket because while I wouldn't be turning up with a flask obviously some did/do.

Even saying the Trust are managing it won't be enough, people want to see where the money goes. Assuming any profits go into community work then that's a great story...but not one that has been told in that article or elsewhere? (or not picked up by people scanning a HDM article anyway in between the incessant adverts)

Not a criticism, just a thought that's all. If that is something that has already been communicated it clearly hasn't landed yet with those not as close to it

That's really good, fair play to you an all that have contributed to it.
Out of interest, presumably there has been talk between the Trusts hierarchy and the club to get it this far? And presumably the Allam's must have been involved at some stage to give this the green light?
Are you party to any of that, that you can share? Are the Allams surreptitiously bridge building?
There is a change throughout the club, I do not know who leads the change. I do not take part in any meetings etc. The Tigers Trust does not invite us to its meetings with the club or owners. I

The Trust moved to the arena and took over the management quite sometime ago.
It’s a register charity and all of any profits go to community benefits.
The SMC are the landlords and I have no idea about the arrangements for the rent.
If you buy a pint before a game in there, the money goes into the trust and not the owners.
The bar does not make a profit, we had to stop selling draft as we could not sell out a barrel and now sell cans (poured into glasses) and some sprits.
It is actually the cheapest place to have a drink before a game.
The makeover was paid for by the trust and the OSC contributed to it.

Like I say it wasn’t a criticism, it sounds great.
All I was saying was despite reading the article I didn’t know that
So some comms is needed to make others aware

"Handled better"?! Crickey, that's an understatement. The way it was done was utterly appalling.
Those using it were paying the going rate. They were paying what they were being charged. The pricing wasn't there fault!!
Yes, some effort was made to find replacement homes ...... after they'd been kicked out literally over night. If you were kicked out of your house, but then someone tried to find you somewhere else to live sometime later, and in some other part of the city would you be happy?
It was built to be a community facility, not a facility purely for the use of the club. The Allams found a way of stretching the definition of the agreement and got away with it.
Just because 'our' club has benefitted, other than losing another huge chunk of goodwill and potential support, doesn't and never will make it right.
I wonder what we'd be saying if FC had the upper hand in the SMC and had taken the arena over purely for themselves?
It was an utterly despicable thing to do, both in principle and execution. Disgraceful.
Did you go mad when the council did the exact same thing about that sports facility in boothferry and gave it to some private firm? Hessle rangers got kicked out of it?

So the way to deal with a facility losing money, was to get rid of the only revenue it was generating, so it cost a lot more money? And paying what they were being asked to pay, is the definition of paying the going rate.
No, the company who were bailing it out every year decided they might as well use it for themselves as they were already paying for it. Plus every effort was made to find those clubs replaced alternative venues. As for 'disgraceful' how would you describe those groups who took all the kit away with them when they departed ? Kit that didn't belong to them ?
Not that it matters now. Only that we cannot be trumpeting the success of the younger players coming through at the club whilst ignoring an important facility instrumental in their development.
So shall we all move on and enjoy our first title win in 55 years ?

Fully agree.
Maybe the Trust need a revised comms as DBT says, just to clarify that it’s them & them alone that run it and for who’s benefit.
A great news story, that can only be applauded, and re-told on the back of the Champions performances on the pitch.
Again, fair play to you (and the others) for what u have achieved.

Perhaps the SMC should kick out of the Kcom Hull City and Hull FC as going by the ever increasing debt neither are paying the going rate.

However you look at it the Arena, Stadium, SMC, ownership situation is a mess and it would be beneficial to all parties if they got together and sorted it out.

The council would never do it as they would have to then fund the running of etc, maintenance and repairs etc...

To be fair they may well have said it before but comms being what it is most people don’t notice until they’ve been told 5 times
