There wasn't a lot to remember about Fletcher. That was a decent team though. Jeff Wealands was quality which earned him a big money move to Man Utd. Frank Banks and Roger de Vries were nearing the end of their careers, Chris Galvin could be outstanding, and he could be very frustrating but he could certainly play. Stuart Croft was an early day Pete Skipper and Paul Haigh was an England Under 21 player ( at the same time as Pete Daniel) solid player and sold for decent cash to Carlisle ? Vince Grimes was a steady eddy, Gibson erm ? another one from the ranks like Grimes, didn't play many first team games from memory. Dave Stewart, now I liked him, made his debut at 16, tricky left winger from Northern Ireland. Talk was he came across with Martin O'Neill. Didn't live up to his early promise but did get a free transfer move to Chelsea. Waggy, injury prone by then, sadly his best days were behind him and then Roy Greenwood, lightening pace, good winger for us and sold for big money to Sunderland where he wasn't a very popular player, voted one of the worst players to ever play for them. Which I thought was very unfair.
One of my claims to fame was that I worked with Sammy Stewart at Pearl Assurance, we were both Financial Advisers there back in the early 90's, he was a genuinely nice fella, I also worked with Waggy in the same field in the early 80's, totally different character to Sammy though.
Nice lad was Paul Haigh, knew him to chat with, I played golf with his brother in law, used to be in his company from time to time.
Is it Fletcher and Lyall in the pic? Gibson was a frizzy-haired little Geordie. Like Dave Hawker, not really up to Div 2 standard.
Looks like George Lyall's hair, then again did Bremner play in that game or had he gone by then? Couldn't say if it was Fletcher or not, possibly, no-one would argue if you said it was.
Dave Gibson I think, he came to our house for tea when I was a teenager. My Dad’s firm used to do the insurance for a lot of City’s players in those days, so I got to meet quite a few over the years. Even had a United biscuit in Stuart Pearson’s house in Sale after he’d moved to Man Utd.
I reckon it could have been but can’t remember if they did different flavours with wrappers in other colours, it was over 40 years ago!
Went to George Lyall’s place too. He had a shop in Elloughton, a newsagents I think, with a flat above.
Dave Stewart was my favourite player at that time but as you say, he never fulfilled his promise. Looked like he had a lot of talent but never really seemed to believe in himself. Shame but we’ve had a few like that over the years.

Relpy to city man I realise now its the players names you're after at first i thought you was on about the supporters. Chazz think i was at school with Kynman first name Dave would have been Shultz or Endike.
He played for Cooper and Orchard Park United. I recommended him to City when he was a schoolboy. Still supports City today.
Little-known fact - the ref that day was Howard Webb. I'd imagine that he considers it to be the biggest game he ever refereed.
