I knew Chris, I worked with him for a period of time, and you are right he didn't have the same passion for City as his father did.

Getting a job at Tottenham as a stepping stone to a job at Arsenal is an odd career choice. Perhaps it was different in the mid-70s (it wasn't).

You are aware he played for Arsenal over 10 years (captain for a few of those years) before he came to City aren't you ?
Nothing better for the Arsenal ownership in the eyes of the fans to poach a Spurs manager for the ego and approval ratings perhaps ?

    Terry Neil quote
Hey you. I’ve been watching you, and every day you play worse in training than you did the day before. Well, today you played like it’s tomorrow!”

    Brilliant

He was a wing halfback, playing in a 3 man halfback line in the old 2-3-5 system.

Agreed. A defensive midfielder in the main, who headed the ball often in a game. When they played together, Simpkin tended to do the swashbuckling forward rushes, with AJ. doing the defensive midfield covering. Undervalued player in that very attacking side i.m.o.

I used to see Paul Feasey on the golf course most weekends and he looked just the same when he was in his sixties as he does in this picture.

Always amazed me , not being very tall, how well he controlled the centre of the back line in the air. Decent player.

He was a good player, a very nice guy also. Took up plumbing after he finished playing I believe.

That photo (from '65) suprises me as I thought he'd left city a few years earlier than that. Then again, my memory is getting rather rusty.
Seems he contracted dementia in the end - makes you wonder yet again about the long-term side effects of constant heading of those heavy balls in those days. A plumber like Tom Finney - interesting.

That's a blast from the past, the one I liked watching was Bill Bradbury, a entertainer and bit of a clown prince on the pitch, but a very good footballer and goalscorer.

It was the following season that Chris Chilton made his debut for the club.
