Okay it hasn't been officially shelved, but they got a bloody nose over the ticket prices increases and it's put further expansion in doubt, which is the point Airlie was making.

Liverpool have stated that they won't go ahead with the expansion because there's no demand for corporate tickets behind the goals and at regular prices it would take 15 years to recover the cost of the extension.

I think you can recognise that buying a club like Liverpool or Man United is a completely different proposition to most other football clubs, you are buying a global brand and the business model that is so far removed from that of regular football clubs its not even comparable.

Of course there's no guarantees as to buying the stadium, but there is potential, something which a lot of clubs don't have, the council are willing to talk and a competent business man would be able to enter productive discussions with them.

Won't go ahead and in doubt are quite different, as you will know. If Klopp has success in the near future and there is a clamour for tickets, which a club like Liverpool with global appeal is a distinct possibility, then it could still go ahead. However, the planning permission, which was obtained quite a while ago and which the increase so far was only one phase of expires in 2019 so they will have to make a decision one way or the other in the near future anyway.
    Wish we had similar dilemmas.<laugh>

Fenway sports group also own the Boston Red Sox, they are the third most valuable baseball team, worth $2.3 billion and play in the smallest stadium in the major league. They obviously know how to make money away from a sports team without worrying about attendances.

Depends on your definition of shelved.

It isn't a question of them not being bothered about attendances.

Though Liverpool fans must wish they had business geniuses in charge like we have.

Im reminded why I had a desktop of a semi naked geordie crying when they went down last time.

Yes, they're passionate, that's great, but the whole "too big to go down" mentality just popped up again.

    **** em.

When the obligatory "Premier League you're having a laugh" chant starts up from the masses of self appreciating fat Geordie ****s a simple response of "You're Championship, we're having a FACT" should suffice.

I think singing we're stating a fact would be more correct, pleasing to the ear and indicative that they are in next year's City Of Culture.

I think they will have to dub the Spring Bank stuff into English, not many Hull folk down there these days.
Lots of recent arrivals from Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe - just like countless other towns and cities in the UK, and indeed most countries in the EU.

Nothing really 'Hull' at all, just Anytown.
Foolish or mischievous choice - you decide.

If we had 6 or 7 thousand who wanted tickets but couldnt get them, and the stadium was half empty but wouldnt sell us anymore , we'd be complaining.

So they have some deluded fans online, like we dont. FFS Stewy was saying smell the fear prior to the Sunland game...

Yeah, pretty much. For 90 minutes he's going to just sit there. Maybe make a subtle joke if we concede. It works.
