£30 is an absolute joke. Now I have my little un I would rather stay at home, enjoy bathtime with him and pocket the £30 quid and spend it on something nice for him instead. There is no way I can justify spending that much on a 4th round game. If it was the later rounds then yes, fair enough, but it just smacks of greed and is a missed opportunity to fill stadium and generate the atmosphere that younger fans would remember forever more. I can remember going to an F.A. Cup game in the 80's when I was a youngster when we played Manure off the park. The whole environment stays with you forever. I'm just so sad to think that the hard working fans have been kicked in the teeth and the next generation have been denied a perfect opportunity to fall in love with our club.
I would have gone and taken my 11 year old with me (only £5 for him) but it clashes with Halloween and I'd already organised a party for a disability swimming club that I help out with.
It is going to be interesting to see what the actual attendance is going to be, only then might the club think about it a bit better next time round. If it is a low crowd then I would suggest people write to the club and tell them directly why they did not attend the game - the message might get through. If I was in the UK I would certainly have to think long and hard about paying what is being asked for and all probability would not attend either.
To some extent only the eventual attendance will decide whether the Club were right or wrong and it also depends what you compare it with. The concensus appears to be that the right price for a cup tie between 2 Premiership Clubs is £15. Is that enough compared with £14 for a portion of fish and chips at the Emirates, £18 which I paid to watch a match in the Conference a couple of weeks ago, the £16 I paid for a theatre ticket to watch a show put on by my granddaughters ballet school or the £28 I was quoted to go in a lift to the top of the highest building in London and spend half an hour looking out over the landscape of London.
My lad wants to go I don't want to pay that much for a ticket still have not give in but just know he will turn the screw, unless I can convince him to go trick or treating instead !
I think the point here is that none of the things you're quoting are a continious passion week in week out, supporting Norwich City is a life long commitment and passion, and a lot of us fans feel pretty let down by the clubs percieved greed over this. Your opinion is your affair, but I do think you are in the minority on this!
What's all this got to do with the price to go and see NCFC play in a league cup game? If the club manage to attract 14000 to the game which I will be surprised if they do, you still have to think about ancillary purchases at the game such as pies, beer etc..... as these items have large profit margins especially food, some items such as sausage rolls and coffee have 2-300% profit margin. As a business surely it would make more sense to get more bums on seats eating and drinking within the stadium? The attendance will not determine whether the club is right or wrong as it has jarred off a lot of fans some fans will begrudingly pay out but it will leave a sour taste in the mouth. Just because people will turn up doesn't make it right to try and rob people of as much cash as you can get away with. Remember just before the League 1 season when all the season ticket holders were asked to give up their rebate because we were in danger of going bust and the battle cry from Mcnally and the board for the casual supporters to fill the stadium week in week out to keep the wolves at the door and the club in existence? How quickly that has been forgotten and now they are trying to screw us over for as much as they can get. No thanks. Smacks of taking the P1ss I'm afraid. SORT IT OUT Mcnally. Sunderland have the right idea, £15 for adults and a fiver for kids.
