Apologies for my apparent over-reaction Goldie... I can't deny it, I'm cockaHOOP big time even though I haven't seen any official confirmation as yet. I'm just delighted at which way the wind's blowing atm. Whilst I'm acutely aware that Paladini has been something of a catalyst presiding over our turnaround from free-fall to two promotions, I've long held serious reservations over this man's motives. For me, he's always been a vulgar little chancer who used greed and force of personality to angle his way into a power position he neither deserved nor had the competence to deliver. In short, he's a bully-boy and a liar without a shred of personal integrity or similar virtue. That in itself has darkened the name and reputation of the club for far too long now. Yes, he introduced the Goons to QPR - and yes that brought a level of investment that took the heat out of an abysmal financial position and imminent meltdown. But this simply highlights Paladini's own inadequacies as director / chairman of a contemporary football club which normally requires personal money-power and/or professional ability as a minimum. Fact is he has neither. Paladini's little more than a street-fighter who calls the boys in when things get rough (viz the ousting of his predecessors and introduction of the Goons when the time came). Not hard to have built up such wealthy contacts in a world where only money talks: **** attracts fat flies. Question is, did he do this for the good of the club or to protect the advantages he'd worked for himself? For me the proof is in the pudding: in strictly financial terms, the club's worse off (debts are growing albeit they're underwritten by the Goons) and Paladini's likely to be much better off judging by his raw determination over a number of years, to hold on to his place in the scheme of things - a solid position in a transfer-based money chain spanning continents. If Paladini has been good for QPR it's been by default. I for one, see nothing for anyone beyond his inner-circle to be grateful for. In the words of Swords: 'good riddance'... if indeed we are finally rid of.
Really well argued (as usual) Brix! All fair points and I agree entirely with the "by default" comment. I do feel that without the man's connections, we'd be where Palace are now (or worse). Let's hope in the next few day, we hear that we're to start with a clean slate (Mittals still my preference) and we enter an era of high achievement so far as the club is concerned.
Thanks Goldie. You're a fair deliberator yourself. Tell you what, I'd rather be where Palace or even Plymouth are right now if the club had the integrity it/we deserve(s) and a slow build recovery plan led by the likes of Bhatia and Warnock. That would make our football really enjoyable with oodles of hope in abundance. That said, I'm with you all the way. We're all Rangers fans on here and regardless of our different ways of expressing ourselves, we all want the very best for our unfashionable little football club. We're a proud bunch us Rs, and we're finally able to anticipate a day, week, season when that pride has finally been restored. CHEERS Y'ALL!
Mate, I've said that if Cerny's original claim that Mordy was the buyer proves to be right, I'll unreservedly apologies!! Everyone is totally ignoring the fact that Cerny said Mordy was buying the club and that doesn't seem to be the case. Time will tell. I'm not convinced that losing Bernie's billions for Fernandes is going to be that helpful, although on balance, I would like to see the back of the goons as much as anyone. The main problem with this site is that if anyone dares to disagree with the "cartel" of posters they are immediately rounded upon.
Um... Col, you're directing those comments to Swords of all people!! Eamon apart, if anyone's likely to stand against the flock it's our Swords. His stand against QPR100's Buzsaki big up a few months ago was classic Rs MB debate - only slightly outdone by West London Willy's subsequent challenge to AndrewQPR! We ran a thread a while back lauding the role of 'free thinking Rs' in sparking certain threads by opposing popular opinion making matters all the more interesting. Your kick-back against Cerny B has had much the same effect on this thread and has probably added a page or two of entertainment into the bargain. Takes a brave man to go against the flow. Yes, it's entertaining but in so doing you're making it more so by defying the odds and saying to one and all, 'c'mon if you're bad - bring it on'! If your argument is sound, you'll survive. If not, expect a peppering! In this case, you're right, Cerny B said Mordy and done and dusted by Thursday... and whilst Thursday's gone and there's been no talk about the Russian, Cerny's saying the full story hasn't come out yet. We wait with baited breath.
Thereâs not much point me coming back on this one now, Hawkster. Brixton has said it all far more eloquently than I would have done. I do agree that Ollie and Power would not have got us anywhere near the Premier League, it was their treatment by Paladini that still enrages me. Youâd have thought that when he had a gun held to his head and was told to quit, he would have worked out that his methods were not fully appreciated by everyone. But not our Gianni, if anything it made him more determined to screw what he could out of whoever he could. Still, as I look out of my window now, the sky is blue!
Keep disagreeing man, its what makes the forum fun. Your posts tend to be top notch. Cheers Brix! Big up to you an' all!
Brixton's response was indeed eloquent, Roller, and I understand where you guys are coming from, when you say there are effectively three and not two Goons. At the time, I looked on the Power thing as being about, well, exactly that - power at the top of an organisation. Best avoided but it happens from time to time and when the smoke disappears, one man remains standing. Which leads on to the gun incident - interesting, because it appears to represent a watershed for Paladini. It does seem that afterwards, he changed his behaviour and was more constructive in what he did in and for the club. May be those gun-toters did us all a favour when they put their finger to the trigger - there again, there are some who will say they should have pulled it...!
Thanks Roller. Coming from where we do Goldie (geographically speaking of course) there are many who wouldn't have thought twice about doing just that! Let's face it, Gianni was confronted by gun toting gentlemen. Ya get me doh?!
Thank you....thought I was right!!!! Only kidding all...it does look as though there may be more to come out on all this so I await the outcome with bated breath like everyone else!!
Yep, Brix. There must be more lamp posts in the Bush decorated with flowers as a result of drive-bys and gang stuff than almost anywhere else in London. Gianni's a lucky man...
It was after the gun incident (if that really happened) that he knifed the Power in the back (OK, I know you can't knife someone in the back if there are not there, but it sounds better). For those not familiar with the story, or who want a reminder ..... http://www.queensparkrangersfc.com/papersoct0105.htm The colour scheme on that page is not my responsibility!
As you may have noticed, I hate the guy with a passion, so I've not looked for a watershed. Do you have any specific reason for saying there is one, or just a general feeling?
