No joy with Dear Power. She never really settled and was outclassed in the end. A bit vexed, as I let the 6/1 odds put me off the consistent Dark Lady and in a way it is disappointing she won this because she is probably only a 100 rated filly after a few starts now. Summer Romance was a poor price today to my eyes. The jockey rued last time that he had not let her stride on in front but they had the opportunity to correct that today but at no stage did it look like that was the plan, and as I said last time she ran, there is no guarantee you can get to the front against real sprinting types. Summer Romance looked small and a fish out of water to me today against the proper sprinting types in Dark Lady and Millisle. I think she was badly placed and her Guineas ambitions, if they ever actually existed, lie in tatters. The Dick Poole is a race with no calling cards from fillies headed for the Guineas and Summer Romance pitching up here was the white flag from Charlie Appleby and you have to ask where to go next with her?
