I say, team, two do jump off the old page and poke you in the eye of the morrow. Them being PURSER (2.25 Lingfield) and in the hedge hopping sphere, SCEAU ROYAL (3.20 Warwick).
The former won his maiden well before running a fair 4th in the Group 3 ‘Solario’ at Sandown (had excuses as well as a gap closed at a key moment for the old boy). Takes a big step down in grade tomorrow to class 5 company and although he has to concede weight all round Purser really should be too good. Eye-catchingly this is also Rab Havlin’s return ride following many months on the sidelines due to, how do I put this diplomatically…ummmmm…'unfortunate circumstances'. Cor blimey had he been a trainer he could have blamed the vet! Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more…
The latter was a very decent hurdler (Grade 2 winner, Champion Hurdle 6th, peak rating of 155) but now switches his attentions to the big, I say big, ‘uns. If transferring that level of performance to fences then the ‘Wiltshire Wonder’ should be quite a force in that domain. An exciting prospect who should start his term with a win.
From a betting prospective these advices reek of a ‘double’ or as one of those terrible Cock-ennnnn-nee types might proclaim, ‘A Barney Rubble’. On closer inspection of the prices available (none available at the time of writing) a decision will need to be taken if this is the way to proceed.
Good luck all.
