4.10 Haydock - MIDSUMMER FAIR 15-2 BOG - A few going with Roman Eagle as an info selection so will reduce the stake on Midsummer Fair as I am a little bit scared of that one from the Varian yard. Anyways Midsummer Fair won the wood ditton in the style of a very smart horse. He looked out of his depth in the French Guineas the time after. He did shape better than the bare result suggests when 4th of 5 at Doncaster in June. That race was very tactical and now handicapping I expect a lot better from this horse. I don't feel a mark of 92 is beyond him and with Antioco Murgia taking off 7lbs I feel this Godolphin runner is the value in the race

For anyone really, really interested, Safari Team, the flagship horse of the Ascot colts and fillies club is running in the 7-55 at Sandown tonight and is currently 25/1. I prefer Fallon's mount, Dysios, to be honest.

Bloody hell - it's a rule 4 rollover today. Did a patent this morning and every bloody race is subject to rule 4s. Mind, chances of them winning are about the same as nicky henderson going through the season without breaking any rules so it probably won't mean too much in the big scheme of things.

1534: HORSE RACING - Trainer Howard Johnson's main patron Graham Wylie has sent six of his horses, including Quwetwo, who beat Zaynar at Kelso in February 2010, to champion trainer Paul Nicholls. Johnson appeared in front of a British Horseracing Authority inquiry last week on welfare and doping charges, which he denies, with a verdict due to be delivered on 10 August.

Bensalem out for next season according to Timeform radio. First of many big names that will end up missing large proportions of the season.

    Ok

    Manchester United 7/4

The Champions have strengthened the squad with the captures of Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea, and all three should help Manchester United continue their domination of the top league. They have a good state of consistency in squad turnover and I think they will win the league with their consistency. Their key players are obvious but I put Wayne Rooney as the most important.

    Southampton 16/1

Southampton were too strong in the end for their League 1 rivals last season and achieved promotion back to the Championship, and I think they are in for another strong season. The key thing for Southampton is that they have consistency and growth as their young squad has undoubted talent throughout its spine. The team look the sort to thrive in the Championship with a good mix of talented ball players along with youth and experience in key areas. They need to keep all of their top talent and if they do I think they will have a successful season. Key player has to be Adam Lallana who has the ability to be a Premiership midfielder of the future.

    Huddersfield 11/2

Another season as one of the favourites to get promoted and this season I think will end in glory for Huddersfield Town. They have signed a wide midfielder that I rate very highly in Donal McDermott who I think will provide them with even more potential in attack and with a very strong team who achieved a play off position last season I can see them going one better this year. They have massive strength in depth and I see them as champions elect. The key player could easily be Donal McDermott and I expect to see him getting plenty of assists this season.

    Oxford 11/1

Oxford are similar to Huddersfield as they had a good solid season last year and have built their squad up even more. The signing of Deane Smalley could prove invaluable and I can see them challenging at the very top of the league this season. I think that they are vastly overpriced when they have masses of league experience and have money to spend. I really like Deane Smalley and I think he could provide the much needed goals for Oxford this season.

Also had a bit on Megalala in the last at Brighton, an easy ride who loves the track and has the best jockey on. I think its overpriced.

De Gea possibly the best utd signing - cracking keeper and at his age he is just going to keep improving. Only problem at the moment is he is like a twig - got to be the skinniest footballer I have ever seen. Will be the best keeper in the world that lad - next Spain keeper for sure once Mr Casilias retires/gets older
