Great finish to the Aintree Hurdle, that will turn out to be the race of the meeting IMO. But The New One will be a strong contender for next year's Champion Hurdle, and Nigel Twiston Davies justified in deciding not to run him in the novice hurdle as he thinks this could be the best horse he's ever trained.
Zarkandar... Pure guts from the boy... The New One lost nowt there in defeat, just couldn't out battle Zarkandar to the line...
Walsh won the race, The New One is a serious champion hurdler, needs a top jock tho. No doubt they will stick with the boy but that is my Champion hurdle horse for next year, slick over its hurdles, so much natural speed, Champion will be perfect for him, hes ahead of Our Conor for me. Forget Zarkandar, Countrywide Flame, Grandouet, poor champion hurdle it was, the fly has no chance next year with these two coming through.
That was a real test of stamina, Zarkandar is a plodder and should be over 3 miles next year. Ruby knew the only way to win was to outstay them. Look at the horses that placed? Thousand Stars a G1 winner over 3 miles, and The New One 2m5 winner. The speed horses were ****ed
yes you are right about the distance - Zarkandar got the trip as I thought he might. next year for The New One though!
Wooly my man... Your boy nearly got up to place... arrgh... unlucky... Hunt Ball was to good for the rest though...
Needed Grandouet to go in a silly treble with L'Unique and First Lieutenant- would have paid almost 4 figures Hunters looks between a select few and I quite like the Ted Walsh/Katie Walsh combo of Battlefront to considerably close the gap between themselves and Warne on a quicker surface. Have had a saver on Rebel Du Marquis as well, who I think is the main Nicholls hope with the Champion Pointer on board and having been given a gentle enough pipe opener not too long ago.
Climbing back up the cliff, carrying Zarkandar on me back And sticking Reebs Roubles on Gwanako. Good luck in this wide open race lads
