I certainly don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more…) to suggest that Henry Candy’s CANFORD TOR could improve dramatically on his handicap bow of the morrow (Newbury 8.00).

The gelding races off 67 tomorrow and is stepped up in trip by a furlong to a mile – extremely noteworthy because last time out he stayed on, and I do mean stayed on, in most eye-catching fashion. Meanwhile, that performance alone looks solid (without factoring in the ‘improvement’ that will probably come from the horse stepping into handicap company and going up in trip) as Plutonian, who finished 1.25 lengths in front of Canford Tor that day, dotted up by 10 lengths at Royal Windsor on Monday.

Other positives are that old boy Henry is in decent form with, at the time of writing, 3 of his last 8 horses winning. Whilst, Canford Tor’s dam was also classy being a Grade 1 winner in Argentina.

Like this one, people.
Another excellent lay. Cheers Mr Chuckles.
