Onwards and upwards folks, today's another day.
Theres one I'm getting in early on in the opener at Leicester.

4.55 - Teepee Time 12/1 win bet.

Trainer and jockey having a purple patch of late with 66 and 14/1 winners today and a couple more over the past week or so. Just hope I havent missed the boat.

To add a bit of extra interest, adding his other runner in the 7.25 - Bob's Girl at 50/1 in an e/w double and single.

Over at Bath, Nigel Hawke has a couple out
6.40 - Historic Heart 25/1 and 8.10 - Nachi Falls 20/1. Both e/w singles and e/w double on those. Have done ok from his string over the past year. I always take note when he sends them out and like to back his horses as he's a good trainer imo.

Yard does well in first time handicap runs and the jockey booking catches the eye.

Short price Barney (no not him) Rubble tonight at Bath

6:40 Establish - He ran a massive race on handicap debut when returning from a winter break. That day he had to drop out from a wide draw and didn't get the run of the race. That was off 85, and he is back into Novice company at a gaff track, and that alone makes him very interesting.

7:10 Motamayiz - Another Varian horse who caught the eye last time out, and he now gets the blinkers applied for the first time. He was tardy away last time, so if the blinkers sharpen him up, I think he is so well handicapped and I am surprised that he is the price that he is. Interestingly his run last time out can be matched quite closely to Berkshire Philly who ran the course and distance the day after.

Motamayiz time - 1 39.48
Berkshire Philly time - 1 40.77

The key to the comparison is that Berkshire Philly race went harder early in the race, and Motamayiz race was more even. However, the bit that impressed me most was Motamayiz finishing sectionals of 11.5, 11.79, 11.96 compared to 11.65, 12.31, 12.69 of BP, he managed to maintain his pace for those closing furlongs better than any other horses in his race and he ran them much better than BP did the day after.

The other races between the two days vary in difference between times, but I think its fair to suggest that its one of the easy comparisons we can do!

3/1 for the double.

The other one that has caught my eye is 13:45 - Motagally

This one ran against the pace bias at Newmarket on return, and given all the non runners in the race today I am very suprised that he is available at 5/1. He was very taking when seen on the all weather, and I thought he showed well on return.

The third that day won yesterday at Haydock, winning by over a length, and Jabarockie the winner ran up to his mark when second at Doncaster on his next start. The form therefore looks very strong for the grade and this one is open to plenty of improvement still.

16:15 Haydock - Sir Gnet

(Going against Stick has to be daft, but then I'll just have to be daft! Selection is certainly well-bred for this sort of event (maybe a 'misfire' by sire Galileo?) Liked his run at the end of November last year at Lingfield where Sir Gnet finished very well over a similar distance to today's. First run this season should have sharpened the gelding up. Trainer Wintle has just a small yard but the booking of the excellent young jockey, Hollie Doyle, is surely a plus.)

Hello. Don’t fret. My sunstroke has healed. Tablets been taken. And the nurse has given me a booster jab.

By the way is anyone still working?!? I heard this morn I’ll be off until 14 Sept (with the provision that this date could be altered by 2 weeks on either side).

Now then with my serious hat on look out for a horse running at Leicester in just over an hour called Mr Zee. Will finish out with the washing this eve (nudge, nudge, wink, wink and all that…) but note Mr Zee down for when he makes his handicap bow.

I haven't stopped working, got the dreaded letter about redundancy and I was in a pool of 4 of which two will be made redundant, will find out TuesdY how that pans out.

Hospitality trade only just going back at very reduced levels so it was expected, some staff have been told Furloughed until October....7 Months of it!

To put that In to perspective, our normal volume would be around 40,000 items out for delivery tomorrow, it has come in at 23,000.

I've been hearing our closest competitors are reducing there staff levels by 40% so that shows how the industry has been hit.

So you mostly lot I require a right proper redundancy package so please put up on winners six a day should do it for an Acca.

Nice to see Nicky supporting the 1st NH fixture back after lockdown. He's entered Brain Power over hurdles at Southwell next Wed. Makes you wonder. Will NH racing behind closed doors be any better than Flat racing behind closed doors???

Guess I have to count my blessings on being in retirement all these years, very fortunate. The exploration side of the oil business used to have its bleak periods when I was working as an independent, but I somehow managed to survive until things picked-up again, which they always did. Fingers crossed for you!

Both well supported and managed to win. Albeit the first didn’t run to form!!
