    Willie Mullins is definitely the worse with that fat cat banker Ricci. If they introduced a rule that you have to race minimum number of times in same grade of race to race at the festival and in mullins case minimum number of races in england or wales then this would surely help alleviate the problem? This racing them once and all eyes on March is ridiculous ...

    Part of me agrees, but part of me doesn't. Generally speaking yes, it makes sense to stipulate that a horse has to have run in a certain number of graded races to qualify for the championship races at the festival BUT there are always exceptions where such a rule would have deprived us of a moment of greatness? I'm trying to recall where Coneygree ran before his Gold Cup win, but he was still a novice and I think had only one run in open company in the Denman Chase at Newbury? Didn't Annie Power only run once before winning the Champion Hurdle? Swings and roundabouts I suppose.
