Bloody hell. Twice as expensive. Went in again when it hit 15/8. Got a serious case of seconditis at the moment.
That'll be another festival winner for Mullins then what price do the bookies now make Djakadam for the Gold Cup? 11/4 ?
I didn't see today's race but I said before the Hennessy he lacked the experience, which I think was true at Newbury. Did he look any more like the finished article today?
Off top weight from what I could see through the fog...he traveled and jumped very well and won as cosy as you like. Definetly turned my head as I never fancied him at all for the Hennesey.
No idea. Didn't like his form pre race so doubt it. Probably bordini and I wouldn't give up on Bellshill. Ballyhenry is one to keep an eye on. Could be a decent bumper that.
Another one for Ben Pauling Bob - I wonder if stick backed it? Gave the trainer as one to follow in bumpers
Good trainer. That's the way to decent profits imho, finding the up and coming young trainers early. Newland was that a year or so ago but all the value is usually gone now when a typical one of his goes racing. Pauling might be the one to follow nowadays. I wasn't that impressed by Djakadam today. He's hammered average handicappers. Compare On His Own, who's also won that race, and you have Djakadam at roughly 12/1 for the Gold Cup and On His Own who was 40/1 last year. Doesn't seem a particularly fair reaction by the bookies.
Serious performance that by Djakadam when you consider it. To carry top weight in awful ground like that and hack up the way he did. At the age of SIX and in only his FIFTH start over fences! I won't crib it too much lads, I really wouldn't! At the 50s I backed him for the Gold Cup he's hardly the worst outsider you'll ever see. Especially in such an open year. I'll tell you what too, if Ruby picks Djakadam over Boston Bob, and don't be surprised should he do so, that's a fair statement. Perhaps, considering his age, next year could be really be his year. He'll be even better once he matures and fills out. Lovely chasing prospect. Nice to see Un de Sceauxs form get a nice boost. Really excited by Sunday now guys!
Or maybe even Saturday surely if conditions are anything like today Mullins will bring him over to Donny
After seeing the Djakadam result today, I just knew you were going to pop up to tell us you have him in your portfolio at fancy prices after the convo we had the other day Beefy!! Good lad!!
lol Pity for you then I put it up here last night then Nice try but you must try harder UDS goes Irish Arkle Wooly Could be a right show too! Just hope they all stay upright, we'll know where we are with UDS afterwards I suspect.
Djakadam has no chance of winning the Gold Cup. Who the hell did he beat today? Don't get me wrong, good performance to carry weight at his age but he'll be found out at the top level. He'll have to prove himself at level weights and on good ground. Sir Des Champs is Mullins best bet for a Gold Cup but assuming he misses this season, so it'll be Don Poli who gives him his first one IMO, next season or the one after.
Happy with Monksland today. Travelled very well, quickened, just got outstayed by a proper stout stayer on the day. He'll be sharper for that and Monksland on spring ground at Cheltenham looks the bet of of the festival to me.
Been flagging this boy up for months fellas, a regular gravy train as were Longsdon and Newland before him. He is Longsdons brother in law by the way and also came into training via the Seven Barrows academy. The yard is getting better animals through the door as the trainers stock rises and you get some real value...but not for mch longer eh!
Well my Djakadam comment did come back on me but I half expected it I still don't think he is top table material but all he can do is beat what's in front of him so well done anyone on today and good luck with that 50/1 AP Beefy.
