What is it with these holes they keep finding them in...!!! Bin Laden lived in a cave... Saddam found in a hole in the ground... Now Gaddafi found in a hole...!!! The Hobbits must have been some evil lot...!!!
Here's the stats for the last 5 years: http://www.racingpost.com/horses/tr..._form&bottomTrainerTabs=trainer_big_race_wins In terms of pure numbers, he does have far more hurdlers (289 winners from 1231 runners) than chasers (127 winners from 552 runners) although the strike rates are idenatical at 23%. In terms of the individual seasons, only once (2009-2010) did his strike rate with chasers (28%) exceed that with hurdlers (25%).
Looking back, Oddy, moving Punchestowns away from hurdling was a huge mistake as he could have given Big Bucks many a challenge these past couple of seasons – don’t forget how close he actually got to him in both the 2009 Cleeve & World Hurdles. In fact in the former he could even be described as the ‘moral’ winner due to the weight he conceded to Mr Nicholls’ star. Punchestowns will though go down in history as the horse who gave the forum’s favourite trainer his 2,000th NH winner so his place in the 'hall of fame' is assured. If you give Mr Henderson the correct ammunition then he will hit the target every time be it over fences, over hurdles or even on the flat (where his record is very good especially in the top staying handicaps). Apart from the Grand National Mr Henderson has won almost every ‘top table’ race going over the big ‘uns (and he would have won this heat as well if Mick Fitzgerald hadn’t fallen off Fiddling The Facts) so I really don’t see him as a hindrance at all. In fact he is a huge plus and any horse under his care must be very honoured indeed.
That was carnage that Ludlow race... Hope all horses are well after that... 2 horses finish out of 7... Grasscutter 2nd @ 80/1... Not much had that one me thinks...
Cracking name for a horse RV - were you on tote place? SirBarney although his strike rate is typically slightly better over hurdles it does seem Mr Henderson excels across the board and shares a similar strike rate to Mr Nicholls. The big difference is in win and place prize money won over the last 5 years: NH 7.5 million (506 winners, 683 placed) PN 12.5 million (579 winners, 914 placed)
Lads, I have had a little e/w dabble in the 1605 at Brighton on a 16/1 shot, something like Royal Acedmician or along those lines...
SirBarney / RV - it will be interesting viewing the Old Roan on Saturday, particularly as Master Minded will be trying to give Albertas Run 10lbs on goodish ground. If he can do that on seasonal debut that will be a fair form marker heading towards the King George. Any idea whether MM will have another run before the King George?
Odddy I don't think there is a horse that could beat MM over that distance if he runs like he did at Aintree last time out. On Saturday it will be interesting too see how he is in terms of fitness as you say 10lbs is a lot of weight to give to a horse like Albertas Run first time out on ground he goes well on. Wondering what the prices will be like ?
Get in Frascati Park nice price as well. Nice one SBC only one result with us both saying he would win
well done lads on Frascati Park RV - not see any prices on the Old Roan yet but I could imagine something along the lines of MM 8/11 or maybe 4/6, AR 2/1, possibly Noble Alan 3rd best at 6/1 (was going very nicely on debut before unseating)
Odddy. Wouldn't be having a bet if it is priced up along those lines. Noble Alan is a nice sort but way short of what is required here
I notice a winner for RV and Chucks, well done the pair. RV, have you heard the new Oasis album? (well it is really)
PP Yeah I have not bad not bad- I bet you think its ****e then ? Nass I notice that John Ferguson had another winner today (ex Godolphin horse as well) seems to be doing well with his novice hurdlers
Noel's album sounds good from first listen. John Ferguson should do well with his novices, he clearly knows the time of day.
