A pretty competitive looking Yearling Stakes race where several hold claims in the quest for the almost £100,000 winners pot.
Ever Given went to Ireland for a similar race and was not too far away in finishing 4th to Sacred Bridge. That effort came just three days after his previous win and perhaps came a bit soon but my worry is that runner up from the sales race, Bosh, was very disappointing as favourite for a Nursery earlier in the week.
Korker won last time out but his run at Royal Ascot has not worked out great since then and he steps up to 6F now. That is not necessarily such a concern at York but this big field should have its share of pace and there may be a battle for the lead.
System has the highest official rating in the field on 95 and along with Ever Given on 93 represent the class element so far. The Hannon stable are a little below their best on 5% and, as I said, Bosh was very disappointing the other day as favourite. Runs off the same weight as the male horses here
I went with Wings Of War. The Dark Angel colt made a promising debut and built on it in style at Nottingham next time. He was prominent before being briefly headed but was soon back in front and kicked away to finish strongly and win decisively. Looked like he was still learning that day and the third from the rave won easily next time. I think Wings Of War looks a good prospect for Clive Cox. On RPR he is right up with the best of these and he is the least exposed.
I am very hopeful of a good run.
2.25 York Wings Of War 5/1
Good luck today.
