Good day's racing yesterday. Coronet and Roaring Lion were plenty impressive: if anything the former more. I was also very impressed by Main Desire, who relatively unfancied had the race won from 2 out. Having been out for 364 days that was a good performance as the 2nd and 3rd are pretty useful. Goes to RA and it's either the Kings Stand or Commonwealth. By High Chaparall you'd think the 6f would be the more obvious but Tudhope felt the 5f race might be better. Gosden's first 2yo Kessaar was beaten a half-length in the 6f maiden. Most of the York crowd probably thought he'd get the race anyway as he was forced by the winner to run to his left. But the winner kept the race and probably deserved to. I'm a Dreamer looked very fit in the paddock and Kessaar not so much. Dettori was very easy on the 2nd and I think that will pay off. It was good to see racing on fastish ground. I've been a big critic of York going as they always go out of their way to provide good ground by late-watering. Yesterday there was none of the kick-back you often see on the course. Well done to the ground staff..
