I take it by our great leader you mean Sir Neil Warnock who seems to do nothing but praise the canaries.
Agree I too wish he'd keep his big gob shut<ok>

I'm with Swimaway on this. I've got friends who are Norwich supporters, I like the club and I like the city. I am also a fan of Swansea and their style of football. There's no need for taking childish pot shots at each other clubs, especially when they're wide of the mark.

Norwich fans no nothing about Tony Fernandes and that doesn't bother me, we know he's the real deal and they can think what they what.
At the same time, I doubt Norwich fans care if we tell them that Delia is a drunk or has bad teeth.
Neither club is tiny and neither are massive, bringing attendances in to it is pointless.
I'm sure the majority of Norwich fans didn't want us to have a points deduction, it would be very sad to want to win the title that way.
And no we didn't 'run away with the championship' in the end, but we were obviously worthy winners and the best team in the league.

Let's bring the thread back to the very real possibility that we might all stay up. Come on lads, play nicely.

I enjoyed it when this thread started, comrades in arms, us against them, all in it together.
It had a rather un-paralleled uniqueness for footie fans.

Everyone outside of us, sitting up and taking notice at the three newcomers, playing football, getting results and not just there to make up
the numbers.
All the doubters debating as whether this is the first trinity to avoid the dreaded one-season drop.

Fair enough....Kevin Davies when asked on MOTD2 tonight would all 3 promoted teams stay up this year answered...... NO!!!

You've all made a fantastic start, but things get tougher come the 2nd half of the season.

Even as early as now I'd say Wigan are as good as relegated being 5 points from safety and having Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all to play next month and then away games to Sunderland, WBA and Stoke and then City to play after that run. I'd estimate they would get no more than 5 points, 9 maximum and is 11-15 points good enough over half way into the season having not played at the Emirates, Anfield, Stamford Bridge, White Hart Lane etc? I'd say no.

That leaves 2 more teams to go down. If QPR invest properly they should be fine. Swansea are tight at the back at home so if they can pick up the odd away win they should also be fine if they get a proper striker in January.

I'd say that was a pretty fair view District. I would add Everton to the list though - could possibly loose players in Jan and are unlikely to strengthen. Anyway you look at it, all three promoted sides have reasons to stay positive with good starts to the season. I may be biased, but I think Rangers are the most likely of the three to go on and improve as the season progresses.

I can't see Everton getting dragged in. They are tough to beat and can always upset the big teams at Goodison, they should be midtable nothing more, nothing less but I respect your view.

If QPR sign some more quality then I would agree they are the more likely to progress but a lot depends on transfers. QPR could easily become a long term Prem side with healthy investment, something which West Ham once were. It'll be weird having so many London sides in the Prem though.

Since he has been at QPR he has brought some good players in and will do again in January. He is turning QPR into a global brand, he has got us world named sponsors and we are now in all the papers and on tv a lot more. They are looking at building a new stadium which (we can all bet) will be state of the art. and he is also about to buy a new training ground.....

I would say TF is trying (not is turning) to achieve a global brand but IF that happens, it is going to take many, many years and a consistent run of winning trophies and or competing in the Champions League and here is why I think that.....

For the world global - use Asia. That is the market he is predominantly looking to attract supporters & investment. As I live over here I think I might be in a slightly better position to judge how much of an impact QPR will make over here and I would use clubs such as Tottenham & Man City as two examples. Despite them being consistently top 6-8 sides in recent years, their impact compared to Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea & Arsenal is practically nothing. When it is said that the PL is big in Asia, it is normally only with regards to those 4 clubs - and not the other 16 that take part.
Cardiff & Leicester also now have investors from this region but they are not making an impact with the locals either because the share of the media limelight is never cast their way, which why I say unless any PL team is playing Champions League year after year, the limelight will not come their way either.

I will add, the only 2 clubs outside the UK that make any real impact here are Barcelona & Real Madrid. The other most consistent sides in the CL
 
I think QPR will target India, through the Mittal connection, as well as Malaysia. Those countries will have massive untapped potential and it's only a matter of time before they improve in the way Japan and South Korea did in the run-up to the 2002 World Cup. Investment from those countries could prove vital in QPR cementing their position in the PL and having newly soccer-mad countries exposed to 'the brand' will bring in the revenue. Thai-Canary is right in saying the original Big Four have had a massive head-start over all other PL teams and will probably maintain that advantage simply because they got in first but there will always be those who jump on the bandwagon of successful teams, so Man City will doubtless pick up support over the next few years.
 
I have to say, as this thread started on our (Norwich) board, that I really don't want to close this thread! We've had some excellent posts from many posters from each of the three teams involved, and it would be unfair to them to close it!

Having said that, if it strays too far off topic again, I will have little choice, so please, no more points scoring!

Spot on Northy. Derry had been struggling since the fulham game. We look a better side with Barton in the middle. I wonder who NW will put in the middle at Carrow road. I'm not sure Derry is the automatic choice he once was.
