Maybe not, but I would rather see this than Bruce in a back 3, he has done OK on occasions, but he is a bit of a weak link.

We haven't been great defensively recently yet we have been scoring goals, Liverpool are poor at the back and if we want a result we should exploit their weakness which happens to be some what our strength at the moment. Rosenior is much better defensively than Elmo and Elmo is our best outlet, the higher up the pitch the better. Last season I would agree because we were very solid but this season we seem to cave in towards the end playing for a point is not an option anymore IMO. To win we need to outscore them they play tonight they will not want us attacking them and making them run, if we sit back we give them exactly what they want an easy game.

You're like a dog with a bone when it comes to out strikers aren't you? Having just shelled put the better part of 10m for Abel, could you not be a bit more lenient? He's got 3 already and having never played in the Epl we are lucky he's settling in so quickly.

Jelavic will be fit by Christmas and we have the likes of Ben Arfa, Ince and Aluko to play in behind if necessary. He probably isn't a lone front man normally, but he did alright on Saturday so cut the guy a bit of slack. You spent most of the Summer window telling us we need three strikers to come in, but we brought in one and we've scored in every game. Quality defensive cover should be the order of the day if we were to sign anybody.

Ever since our owner displayed himself to be a disgrace I refuse to give him my professional support or money. I'll keep this stance until he either leaves or publicly admits he was wrong and drops all his name-change activities.

Yes i fancy our chances for 2 reasons. Liverpool are nowhere near what they where last season (no sas for starters) and they will be in the afterglow from tonights CL game with Real Madrid.

Same team as Arsenal for me except:-

    Jakupovic for Harper

Either Bruce or McShane for Dawson

Chester - Davies and McShane as a back 3 did OK @ Dqpr but Liverpool is more than a step up in class.

Elmo and Robbo will need to be on top form again mind John.

I certainly agree that I would prefer Macca in the back 3.

Agreed. As evidenced by the fact we've never won a game with Bruce on the pitch, much less challenged a side like Liverpool. Oh. Hang on.

Might be worth putting Davies in the middle with Chester and Rosenior either side in a back three. Rossy is strong defensively on the left and combines well with Robertson. I think Davies best position is in the middle as he looks a lot more vulnerable playing wide on the left.

Our win percentage when Bruce starts is utterly woeful.

His catastrophic mistakes often go under the radar due to the dense nature of our fan base.

Him going off all but cost us the FA Cup Final.

I'm not saying he should be first choice by any stretch of the imagination, but he's not as terrible as some say.

I am simply stating the blatantly obvious. Hernandez was not brought in as a 'lone' striker but has unfortunately been thrown into that role through injury to Jelly. He has proven that he can put away chances when given them but is certainly lacking a bit of pace and stamina just now which is what is required to fulfill that role.
Please don't mention Aluko when talking about English Premier League Football as he does not have the credentials to perform at this level.

Despite looking every bit a Premier League footballer prior to his injury at Everton?

I fear that any thoughts of us getting a result on Saturday have been made less likely as a result of Liverpool being royally ****ed by Real Madrid tonight.

As a centre half in a back 3 - Bruce was excellent in most games last season, even to neutrals. He marked Suarez out of the game at the KC. His injury in the FA Cup arguably cost us the game. Up to going off, he was probably MOM and one of the best performers in the final.

The good work he does on the pitch goes under the radar due to the dense nature of our fan base.

Some "fans" seem desperate for certain players to live up to certain, negative, stereotypes.
