Why do you persist is spreading this propaganda, the problem we have is Bates, no Grayson...

 

I'm unsure as to whether I agree with Clivetime on the Grayson thing.

I think that stability and giving a manager time is the way to achieve things. Clubs that don't, stagnate and won't achieve prolonged success (ie. Chelsea). However, you need the correct manager in to give time to. I'm not sure whether Grayson is that manager. Are there better managers? Yes, of course. Does he make mistakes? Yes, of course. But he hasn't been given the resources to prove himself fully.

Personally, I feel the constant criticisms of his transfers (while very, very justified) are more of an attack of Bates really. Does anyone seriously think Grayson is going for his first choice targets? No way. He's not sat in his office at the start of the transfer window thinking - "Well, I hope to sign a Celtic reserve on loan, get 2 Finnish free transfers, and 2 emergency loans". We're linked with some good players - Jack Cork, who went to Southampton - and whilst it's impossible to say whether these rumours were true or not, they were reported by reliable sources.

IMO, overall Grayson has done a good job, and deserves atleast the rest of the season. Does anyone seriously look at the squad and think that it's good enough to get promotion? If you think not, then how can you expect Grayson to win promotion with them? And yes, some people will say that he built the squad, but I'd again say that was due to the lack of investment meaning he gets his 3rd or 4th choice targets.

Bates is the problem. SG might not be the best choice to take us forward, but he hasn't been given the chance. Rachubka lost the game for Leeds yesterday, not tactics or anything. And SG signed him, but my argument is - would Grayson have settled for Rachubka if he'd been given an adequate budget to build a squad for promotion?

You constantly take the wrong meaning from what people say, claiming they agree with you on certain points when they actually don't.
