You have to love badgers, speed snails, RHC, and a motley assortment of raving psychopaths (one of those things being nigh-on impossible)in order to enjoy the Cheese thread.
You really should read it from the start to understand it, but if you did that your brain would be mascarpone by the end.

I don't have a beef with you or anybody on here, I like the forum in general, though I can see easy space for improvement. Neither am I a ranting type - blunt maybe, but with some reason for it as brown nosing and inanity just rub me the wrong way.

You erasing (not closing, but erasing) my second-last thread didn't impress me at all however.
 
To be fair Gerrez said more along the lines of "live with it or I'll quit" which is perfectly reasonable. If Liv had carried the day Gerrez could have taken that as a vote of no confidence and I'm sure Lucaas you'd have been happy to step up to the job? Or Liv....with the vote of the people of course, just like how the other mods were selected.........

I know I certainly couldn't do the job...I'm a bit of a knob which could only get worse with power......;)

I removed it because it was condescending and insulting to just about every poster on here (as the responses clearly showed too) and would have ended up in a posters vs Livtor much like you last thread did.

I did say that and as I always say, I am a man of my word so would have quit had it gone that way <ok>

I'm happy to take suggestions on board, anything for the good of the board, but if its something I strongly disagree with then I'm not going to be the right person to enforce it. We've had the on vs off topics discussions many times before, I like the off topic stuff and this is something people definitely knew before electing me. The day those types of threads stop happening is not only the day I stop moding, it's the day I stop being a Not606 member <ok>

I just don't think we need moderators tbh. If someone talks **** just call him a **** until he leaves. And if there's an offensive thread just let it drop to the 2nd page...

I'm confused...were you taking the piss voting yes or am I just making that up?

I'd have thought if there were more inflexible rules for the board it would need mods even more to uphold them? Or were you hoping for an option that said "no mods, no rules"?

Not that it matters just confused at what your stance was/is.

As Mito said on the voting thread, there are legal issues that can't allow an unmoderated public forum....look at 4chans last week lol......

Nah, seriously, I respect you mods for volunteering, I've always said that. Its unpaid work & not a lot of people would want the hassle.

In all seriousness mate, everyone is on here because they follow the club, and we're all perfectly happy to talk about it and engage in any interesting topic you may want to bring up.
However, surely you can see that a supercilious manner is just going to alienate people and render impossible the very thing you say you want? Insulting people (in anything other than an obviously friendly manner) is just going to start a slanging match, and the serious discussion gets lost.
Personally, I don't take your style to heart too much -at least, not so far- but obviously some do, so wouldn't it be better all round to rein it in a bit?
Obviously you're free to go about things the way you see fit (within the rules of the forum) but I'm sure you'd get more out of people if you didn't ride them so hard.

We've discussed the rules thing before. Some boards on this site have written rules, some long some not. Other boards don't bother, instead leaving it to the elected mods opinion. This board wanted the latter because it as worked for a long time and drawing up a set of rules for this board would be near on impossible with such a varying interest. We know this when voting for new mods so surely people take this into account at the time of vote? I certainly do and I'm sure a few of you will recall may reservations about MITO's appointment (who's turned out great (so far) by the way).

As for the legal issues, there obviously isn't a law saying a forum should be moderated but then, I don't think this is what you meant. As site owner, Mick faces the flack should unwanted material be posted on the site. Mods and supermods are appointed to protect him as much as possible. The system isn't flawless and he has received warnings in the past, including from Google who decided to boot us off the search engine for a short time not too long ago. I'm sure people will understand when I say something (pictures, videos, links or even plain old text) need removing rather than just restricting access, this means there is no public communication as to why it as been dealt with in whatever means considered necessary.
 
You are a tight-knit community, it must be said, taking pleasure in little huddles, holding hands, biting outsiders, spouting cute lovey-dovey nonsense, scratch&sniff and all that. Not always a good thing, especially when real external threat is minimal. I mean, yes sure, we're all crazy about the reds and want them to smash the rest, but really, come on..., a bit more of individuality...

I really do not understand your inability to post anything that does not contain an insult or a slight toward somebody. I struggle to understand whether you are really pissed off with everybody or its all part of a massive pisstake.

I must say if it is part of an elaborate wum, well done, you have consistently wound up 90% of board members while still remaining strangely credible. In fact thinking about it you put the likes of shteve to shame.
