Another thing is when threads are merged it used to say "moved", it no longer does that so people assume that it's been deleted. Having several conversations all mixed up makes no sense at all to the reader.
Seems to me like someone has too much time on their hands and likes to play around a bit, don't try to fix what isn't broken. This board has been run well since it's inception, leave it as it is, it's fine and doesn't need tampering with. Just my two pence worth like.
As someone who has been in mechanical engineering for the last 16 years, that's always been my motto.
It is my opinion that the only time that merging posts should be considered is when the same topic comes up by a number of posts all at once, like for example, if it has just been announced that we have signed a player, and six posters put the same thread about it all at once...Apart from that, I find it bloody annoying when posts you have commented on go missing..
This is 100% correct, like Welder say's 'if it ain't broken'. Another thing i've noticed are the one's who are getting annoyed over this, it's all the original members, and we like to keep it plain and simple.It's worked fine so far.
I'm not a prolific poster and tried to add to the thread started by Cest and couldn't get it on so thought it had been pulled, I didn't know about merging and gave up trying, I don't really see the point in merging , can it not be left as it was for us computer challenged olduns...please.
My point exactly mate, why tamper with something just for the sake of it? this board is fine as it is, just leave it alone. This Forum is for the fans to have a discussion about the team they love, let us have our say, just like we have done for the past few years. If we get out of order from time to time, then feel free to step in and sort it out, until then just leave well alone and join in the discussions instead of being judge and jury.
I've got a moan. I started a thread 17/8/2013 05:52pm on Bardsley regarding his instagram message and the title was changed afterwards to 'Bardsley the C@nt' I don't mind threads being merged but to change the title of somebody's thread to something that could be liable is wrong.
Honestly take a look at the post and you'll see that it looks like i started the thread called 'bardsley the c@nt' I fumed for 2 minutes then had a whiskey
Well maybe I'm being a bit presumptuous here & if I am I apologise now but it's only started happening since our new mod took his seat.
Call me paranoid Billy D (is it you?) but i can't believe anything i read on here (or can I?) since my thread was defaced. My name might even not be mine. How the **** will my mam remember my birthday? The MOD's are controlling our minds.
You better believe lads psychological warfare, not sure why your title got changed sandancer but, we can only get our heads together and make it better.
Fair enough merge threads Talc but it's worrying that stuff that posters write can be altered by others 'unknown'. Who has the access and ability to alter the title of threads?
I think it's a case of people with too much time on their hands playing with their new toys? Unless its 1 or 2 identical threads then leave well alone? My post about a specific thread was merged with one with extremely tenuous connections. To me it's as if the mods are vetting threads and ones they don't like are merged or made to disappear conveniently? That's an abuse of responsibility IMO.
I don't post much but most of them get merged because someone else has posted a similarly artical and they are usually merged
I vote Nay. Never liked it when some jumped up arse (not all) decides to merge a thread I've took time to type.
