That's not for a second to say we shouldn't be welcoming to newbies, or that we should prevent non-Watford fans from posting, simply that the way to create a positive environment is to ensure that every contributor shares one common ideal: to want to talk about Watford, whatever their point of view.

Unless of course they're a l*t*n supporter (or should that be "the" singular) with an irational dislike for superior neighbours................

surrounded by superior neighbours eh.... Almost feel sorry that the old rivalry is effectively over due to the gulf now between the two clubs levels, almost!!!!!!

good gracious! I must admit, i didn't expect this to have gone on so long. Thank you Leo for your kind words :)...you always make me smile :). Anyway, i really don't have anything to add, i said my bit...i think i'm probably just glad you're all either sleeping or at least taking a deep breath ;).

Though, i will add that a long while ago i asked Mick to make us a sub forum, like they have on GC, so that off topic posts could go there, and the songs and jokes and all those other threads that are not necessarily Watford related. He then decided to move, have problems with the system and loads of other stuff, so it hasn't happened, and i'm not sure it will, but i will remind him, because obviously, those who don't want to visit an additional, off topic forum, will stay here, and just read Watford related posts..which seems like the best solution to me. I'll keep you informed...and will keep my fingers crossed that it eventually happens, coz if it had, this wouldn't have arisen in the first place, me thinks. :)

There is a phrase - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" What is broken? The clue is in the title - change a letter game, health and fitness thread, the song game - not too much to confuse us there - if you don't like that sort of thread just ignore it but if you do then post, so long as they are not made sticky they will disappear when they are no longer wanted. Its the same as people who complain about telly programmes - they have a channel selector and an off switch.

I think this is great stuff. I have always thought that not606 has lacked some of the edge of 606, even though the MODS are far easier than the BBC book-burners. As I think Lenny stated somewhere above, sometimes not606 is too much like FB or Twatter. This guy was nothing but a Troll, he was Trolling around boards looking for a reaction, you can see that by his responses...I am more than happy having the debate that Lenny describes and football banter as NNW did with the Soton fans - for me that is what a football MB is about.

If you want to do that then do that. I am happy for it to happen and even started the Fallout thread because i expected some blowback after the programs about extremism in Lu70n. I started it off and then let you go and post what you wanted. It was the intention of the thread. I only want to close threads which are racist or homophobic. However, if someone is clearly getting personal then i might consider deleting posts after several warnings.

Dan - you're doing a good job - you won't please all the people all the time but you act fairly honestly and you listen to people - what more could we want?

And that's also why having in-house mods is fantastic. Occasionally people do take it too far (Hornette had to mod one of my posts against Southampton because of a questionable percentage), but knowing that the mods have the best interests of the Watford board at heart makes those decisions a lot easier to take.

This. I think the sign of a great mod is that they put what appears to be the best interests of the board ahead of what they are naturally inclined to do, and that's exactly what you did with the threads that sparked this.

Lloydy - I think you seem to be missing the entire point of a discussion - who do you think needs to say sorry to whom and for what - far from it we should thank everyone who takes part in rational discussion

Yet I think that this saga has caused a rift between some of the members. Some Nasty things were said. That is not acceptable.

I don't agree with you at all - we are adults here and know we can have a difference of opinion without it causing a rift - if you can find one person who says that this has caused them to have a problem with another I will be surprised - we are not luvvies and healthy differences of opinion strengthen rather than weaken our bonds. You should see some of the other clubs where they cannot have a discussion like this as it degenerates into real nastiness.
