Good opinions all round, generally we agree that we have some very sensible people running our club right now. Things won't be all rosy, in this league its very easy to lose momentum and for games that looked initially easy to becoming tricky looking ties. However, I wrote this mainly because i felt Dyche and his staff don't get enough praise...good to see I'm not alone in praising him!
Great thread emiatss and welcome back. When you look at all of the uncertainity that SD inherited with core members of the squad and management team leaving and a new owner that did not exactly inspire confidence, SD has come through it all with a lot of dignity and composure. As was said above, he and his team have stabilised and grown our club with the most meagre of resources available and for that, he has my utmost respect.
In the past few games Dyche has talked about the team playing with a bit more freedom, expressing themselves more ect and it seemed like they were really enjoying their football in that first half against Derby which is encouraging. Some fans would maybe say that the manager has the summer time to get this side of a team sorted out, but I sort of understand the approach Dyche has taken. First of all he wanted to make sure the players had a high level of fitness, then he wanted to make us as solid/robust as possible and to be competitive/hard to beat with a strong team work ethic. Once and only once he felt he had laid down these foundations he then works on the team playing with more freedom and expressing themselves. I think this is a better approach to take for a club like us than trying to do it all in a short space of time. We haven't exactly been very exciting or enjoyable to watch for the majority of the season but most of the time we have been competitive picking up points where we can. I think next season could be a bit more entertaining and Im looking forward to it already. Patience is a virtue as the say, and it's not easy for new Rookie's managers these days in an environment where fans want the points as well as the entertainment for the money they pay. Granted some of Dyche's signings has made life hard for himself, but I love the way that he's not afraid to drop players who dont perform, lots of managers out their are stubborn and dont do this. It not only sets a high standard for each player to meet, but also creates good competition for each place. Mapps is really the only one who is guaranteed to start. I also agree with him about only playing the young players who are mentally and physically ready and letting the ones who are not gain valuable first team experience at other clubs via loans.
Yes, Dyche is doing well, long my it continue. Not all signings are going to come good, the majority have though. I am just concerned about his voice and when his vocal chords might snap. If that is my main concern we are doing just fine !
Hello Mitch, have to admit I've been a bit absent from here recently. Agree completely with what you say about how Dyche has gone about things. We were awful earlier in the season but when you look at what happened in the summer that is understandable. With our limited resources it was imperitive he made us tough to beat as soon as possible irrespective of the aesthetics. Hey, at least we give all the opposition managers chance to use the old "you know what you are going to get against Watford" after their team clearly didn't in losing to little old us. Now that we are already safe (47 is going to be more than enough) we hopefully will play with more freedom and confidence and maybe see some of the other youngsters coming through. Can't honestly see the football improving that dramatically at home with that pitch however. DO NOT GO BACK ON YOU WORD ON THIS ONE BASSINI!
agreeing with all the above...some great points made and yes Si, your last sentence will be shouted as loudly by me!
