I think for me it will depend on performances as well as results. If results do go poorly first few games but you can see we are clearly playing better than we have been then I'd be willing to stick it out with him to be honest. The worry is when we are playing badly and getting bad results. Either way it is clear from Cellino's past that he will not hesitate to sack a manager
Doubtful. He doesn't exactly have a track record of standing by his man. Think he averaged two managers a year over about 14 years at Cagliari. It's even *possible* that he employed Whackaday as a stool pigeon for a fairly turbulent period, and already has plans to get rid.
What a bloody Soap Opera! I bet you boys must get thoroughly pissed off with all this, I know I would be! The closest we have experienced is the dreadful Roy Keane management era!
We're used to soap operas. It's looking better now than it has for a decade. At least Cellino understands football and has a track record, in that he consistently kept Cagliari in Serie A on a shostring. Beats the hell out of being run by middle eastern crooks. Or me.
Wait and see is my attitude. I know nothing of the coach or the new signings. Only time will tell if Cellino knows what he's doing. Lots of positives so far though with one of them being at least he's spending his own money to achieve promotion
Cellino has put his money where his mouth is and invested a lot, there will always be moaners if he spends 20 million some will say he hasn't spent 30 million etc,but he's cleared the loss making problem isn't pocketing loads of our cash like every owner for the last 10-12 years, and I do believe he will get us promoted within 3 seasons.
Pretty sure he actually got them relegated from Serie A and then promoted back up... People are very quick to fall in love with this guy, all I'm saying is to wait and not get dragged in by what he says, he's already been caught out lying.
Why were owners pocketing our cash in the past? Its a business, they provide a service, football, we pay to watch the service. Its their money once we have paid it over. They can choose it invest the money to improve the service and then make more money, or, if they are happy with their lot, keep the money and stay at the same level. They own it.
Normally till christmas, but I've seen supporters calling for the coaches/managers head after one defeat.....
Good thread johnnywarksmoustache My review of the current situation: Mr Cellino: Yes, I might be falling for his media charm - but it's almost impossible not too. We have had so many owners peddling **** and not showing or having any ambition. Will all of this work out? **** knows to be honest. But he's an open book and very passionate and that makes a refreshing change. The Hock: It's very hard to be excited about his appointment. But that doesn't mean I will rule him out, he is there to coach the team and that's that - I don't mind this continental set up where going for and I hope for both our sake and Hockadays sake it works out. It's impossible to call really. The team: Well at least we're signing players this year. **** knows who the players are though so I will reserve judgement. I am quietly optimistic though. But I usually am.
JohnnyWark I have family who are tractor fans and season ticket holders mate. I usually try and get down to Portman and take in a match or 2 as I love the place and the fans. After sitting and listening to some of our lot hurl abuse at anyone, even other leeds fans when it's boring your place makes me laugh. A couple of seasons ago I was down there for a midweek match against us and sat with my brother-in-law. The fans all around him were all known to each other etc and I remember when the ref made a real booboo and all you lot stood up as one and shouted: "Oy ref you're taking a libertyy" I pissed myself because if that had of been anywhere else it would have been Oy ref you blind **** ........you don't know what your doing ....
Top post Doc We are a fairly civilised bunch down at Portman Rud unless the Norfolk scum come a calling! I always look forward to the Leeds game as you always bring incredible support along and it always gets a bit feisty with some of your lot getting ejected halfway through the first half! One of my earliest football memories is when we played you guys in the 1975 FA Cup 6th Round when it took 3 replays for us to reach the next round. I will always remember the winning goal at a Filbert Street and a beauty it was! John Wark made his debut as a 17 year old and I was hooked from that day on! I like you guys, never had any bother with any of you at Portman Rd or Elland Rd Best of luck for the new season and I hope that you go marching on together!
Chesh, he's spent money into buying the club and also into the debt side of things, but the average supporter only really cares about the team and who is on that pitch. If you want to class me as a moaner just because I have a different opinion well a moaner I am, but(and I'm really trying too) I'm not getting excited regarding the new coach or players that he's installing/buying. I'm not going to judge him or the team on losing a pre season game, but I was hoping that the performances would pick up. We have just over 3 weeks to go till the big kick off, do you think we'll be ready?...
Unfortunately Leeds60, you could be spot on.......let's hope that the new players gel quickly and we get a good start......
I seriously don't think we will be Shako. My hope is we can grind out results for first few weeks until we really start playing as we want to. The thing is, I do think we are weaker than last season almost purely because of the McCormack sale. As much as I agree with Cellino for selling him due to the large fee and the fact Ross wanted to leave I still feel a large sum of that needs to be spent on someone proven to get goals and I'm not talking about a Becchio here or a Billy Sharp sort of player who scored goals once upon a time but a player that is currently scoring and still improving. These players are out there if you want to pay the price and with that Ross fee we certainly are able to pay that price. This Hockaday appointment still bothers me as well. I still cannot get my head around why he appointed him, I'm desperately trying to give him the opportunity though to prove that he is capable of this job. Everything about the team right now is uncertain and nervous as we have no idea how we will do and I'm not finding myself staying on the side of optimism at this time. We've ignored a lot of good players that were available cheaply this summer in favour of italians, really hoping it comes off.
Hock is also a worry for me, but if results are crap then he gets the boot fast. The team have no time to gell because the players we bought will not play together until this Saturday and with more to come ...... The players he's given a chance to up front have let him down except Smith, but he's nowhere near the top striker we need. Hunt was supposedly looking hungry and sharp but failed to take his chances alongside Morison who has also failed to take his. Yes they both scored in crap friendlies but the last 2 games saw them wasteful, and Hunt gone off last night injured again. Face the facts guys these 2 jokers should be moved on because they will never replace the Ross goals. The other day Hock was saying he was pleased because we won and created a lot of chances which we should have taken. Last night he was also pleased but not happy about the 2 personal mistakes which lost us the game and the chances not taken. So looks like he will have to do something because without goals we will not get anywhere.
