Basically, Levy should don some spandex and a red wig to perform the hook from Sweet's 'Blockbuster'... please log in to view this image "We just haven't got a clue what to do" There's no plan. Nobody's been lined up. Daniel's getting his kicks by winging it, like he does during transfer windows..and that's normally bad news. Nobody knows what Levy's going to do, because he doesn't know.... Barring an outbreak of realism and common sense in Levy's head (won't happen) and the input of a serious amount of Lewis's cash, we're utterly ****ed as far as being competitive is concerned in the short term. Pay Brighton for Potter, clean house and start again with a young gun and get him a DoF with experience and give him real authority away from Levy's meddling. At this point, it's our only sensible option...and it was always going to be...
**** sake. ****ty sources (but sources nonetheless) are saying some figures at the club want Poch back. Yeah, bring the guy back to the team of players who got him sacked in the first place where he’ll likely still be sentimental towards some and give them yet another chance in the XI to screw him - and us - over.
I'll bet that there's also some daft **** in the boardroom who wants Mourinho back! There are rumours that Hitchen wants Potter....I'm warming to that useless twat.
I genuinely think this’ll happen. We’re ****ed for options. At least Levy knows what he’s getting with Poch. - maybe he’d rather trust him with the painful rebuild (and tell him he was right all along), than take a punt on a not very appetising list of available managers. ??
We have less than 3 weeks til the Euros start. How is not having a manager in place OK? During the the run up and the tournament no top European player will be sign for anyone as countries will not want things disrupted. I have said previously that they sacked JM with no plan B even though it was obvious to everyone that JM needed to be sacked. Every day that goes by confirms to me that there was no planning and tbh I think (like I have previously said) that this is going to severely impact on our transfers and pre season preparations.
The worry I’d have with Poch though is he’d come in and be like “Hey Winksy! Hey Moussa! Hey Eric!” Etc and just instantly put faith in them when we’re in desperate need to bin them. So in some ways, I’d make him a bigger punt than others if he arrived with favourites in his mind.
maybe getting rid of them was what he meant by the painful rebuild? A mixture (at the time) of ageing players, and average squad players. - exactly those players you mention. No one in their right mind could be considering basing their team around those players going forward. It’s been evident how **** they are for months and months. but regardless of whether it’s Poch or anyone else, we need an obscene clear out, which isn’t going to happen. So the new manager is going to be stuck with some of these goons regardless of who they are. It’s just going to look worse by default if it’s Poch who is stuck with them because of past relationships etc.
It's a ****ing **** show. Nobody's minding the store while Levy's off playing nice with the NFL and making models of their new training centre. There's absolutely no succession planning, despite it being apparent for months that Mourinho had to be sacked. Hitchen, hasn't got the authority to take a piss without Levy's say so. Does anyone have any confidence that this summer's signings will be any better than the last bunch of useless, overpaid, lazy ****s? If so, why? I simply cannot imagine.
That's definitely plausible and I'd love to think you're right on that, I think he spoke of a painful rebuild a year too late but IF (and bloody hell it's a huge IF) he does come back I hope he does so with the ruthlessness he showed when he first joined us. I think within his first 12 months he shipped out a solid 15 players between each summer window and we'd need that level of "outs" in the next couple of windows. If the club (Levy/ Hitchen) refuses to shift a number of these players and give the new manager funds to rebuild in their image then I can only see more and more protests with bigger numbers happening and WHL becoming extremely poisonous - providing enough turn up.
I loved what Pochettino started but there are very clear reasons he should not return. 1. He continually picked Rose no matter how poor his attitude (THAT poxy interview with THAT scummy paper) and how badly he played. 2. Dier, Toby and Eriksen all made it clear they wanted out yet were always in the team regardless of form. The difference in how these were treated in comparison to Walker, Townsend, Trippier, Lennon, Adebayor and Kaboul etc. clearly showed there were favourites which would always be chosen. I am not attacking or defending any players (apart from Rose who should have been immediately told to find another club and never picked again) but trying to point out inconsistencies in Pochettino's approach which (imho) damaged us. 3. His inability to use Llorente effectively severely damaged us at crucial points. 4. His insistence on rushing players back after injury also damaged us. 5. His part in transfer decisions such not getting who he wanted as first choice so choosing to get no one instead led to the squad being depleted and players not having to deliver to keep their starting place. This bit is based on reports so I accept I may be wrong informed. 6. His lack of a plan B cost us so many times in the last 2 years. 7. He never quite managed to get us over the line. He has had 6 months at PSG since leaving us and I am not sure he has learnt anything that will make us winners. None of this is aimed as a dig but imo, if he returns (I do not think this'll happen) he'll be gone by Xmas.
Why is every talking about Poch? No way would Levy have him back so soon and nor would Poch want to. Not yet.
Painful as it is for me to say this (look at my avatar ffs!), but I lost trust in Poch's ability to oversee a rebuild in hindsight of how he spent £140m in his final window on players who have contributed almost nothing in 2 whole years. That he entered his final season with 1 senior RB having allowed KWP to go out on loan and zero back up for Kane having declined the chance to offer Llorente an extension, was poor judgement to the point of insanity. The initial decay may not have been entirely of his own making (lack of investment and unexpected injuries to key players contributed more than his nitpicking in the market imo), but his recruitment and tactical decisions in his final months made it clear that he had no idea how to fix it and, sadly, ultimately ended up making things much worse. Love the guy forever but imo seeing Lo Celso and Ndombele as the answer to our problems while signing Sess but neglecting RB and ST was a sackable mistake in and of itself.
I would add to this: 8) The sheer length of time it took new signings to get 'up to speed'. Bizarre and inexcusable when most of our rivals were able to buy players who slotted straight in while ours weren't really heard from until December.
absolutely none...I am 99% expecting us to blow that money on all the wrong stuff...7 average players instead of 3 top class strategy for us to look forward to.
It's Daniel. I can't believe the various managers you have had have all been arsey about players. If Poch didn't get the player he wanted he went for none at all? Jose bought players he rarely (if ever) played? No, Levy buys the players and the manager has to make do. I can imagine the conversation now, "what, you want a CM for £45M, my boy i can get you 3 for that leave it to me"
Er...it was Mourinho who allowed KWP to go on loan in the January window. So he didn't neglect right back. He never got the chance to show how to use Lo Celso, Ndombele and Sessegnon.
There isn't a single decision made at the club that Levy hasn't interfered in. His 'influence' is all pervasive and it's strangling the football club, because his priorities are elsewhere. Joe Lewis wants an NFL franchise and ENIC need the property developments to succeed to bump up the value of the club. Football is a poor third in the list of Lewis' and Levy's considerations. He's constantly delaying the dire need to bring in experienced, able, quality deputies and give them authority to make meaningful decisions. Until we do that, we'll just continue to repeat the process of... I think Levy would, it’s no secret he enjoyed the best relationship with Poch out of all his previous managers and I believe that he thinks bringing Poch back will appease the fanbase, which to a degree is partially true as there’ll be large numbers who’ll love it but many also understand that it’s likely the wrong choice at the moment seeing as roughly 80% of the squad is still Poch’s that got him sacked and he possibly may still have attachments too with some. There’s more rumours coming out today as well (albeit, again from crap sources) that Poch would want to return as he’s unhappy in Paris and wants another shot managing Tottenham.
