A coach is one who devises the training regimes expected to result in the squad playing in certain ways come match day. A manager by definition is responsible for managing : 1. how the team are playing during the an game (starting XIs, formations, subs etc) 2. the psyche of the squad (when to comfort/cajole etc) , at both the individual and squad level The two roles are orthogonal, Being good at one does not mean you can do the other. So IMHO a club is looking to hire someone who is as good at both as possible, with their ability in #2 being the greater.
Villa confirmed Monchi, making some very ambitious additions at the moment, they could be seeing a resurgence as a club. Interested to see how Monchi does in the Prem.
Celtic confirmed John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan will remain part of Rodgers’ backroom staff. Both, especially Kennedy, were linked with following Ange.
As mentioned in the Academy Watch thread, we've appointed Simon Davies (not that one) as new Academy Director
Given methodology is the study of method, he must be head of the team that objectively study various coaching methods (being) used by Spurs. If they want to show me the analytic dimensions being used by the process, I'll sign an NDA.
Ally Gold is saying that Paratici is (somewhat unsurprisingly) still acting on a consultancy basis for the club.
So late last week Alasdair Gold said that chief scout Leonardo Gabbanini was in an ersatz DoF role, and it does have to be said Gabbanini's name has been coming up a lot in the last month as he was reportedly at the training ground meeting with Levy, Ange and mason to outline transfer strategy for the summer - and then a few days later Gold reports, LOL, actually Paratici has a hand in That being said, it has been clear we have been copying the Paratici playbook of having a few targets on the hook to see which club blinks first, most obviously with having Raya and Vicario on the hook (which is lucky for us, given Brentford decided that they wanted to Berahino the crap out of Raya) and, while Gabbanini was a Paratici hire, it did look a little suss That being said, we're not the only club Paratici is working as a consultant for, as he's apparently advising Sampdoria this summer - ignoring the fact that I can advise Sampdoria by saying that, when Harry Winks is one of your standout performers even though he missed half the season with an ankle injury, you are ****ed
Ange’s team: In short: Chris Davies and Mile Jedinak have joined as assistant coaches, with Mason and Wells has also being appointed ones, whilst Rob Burch has returned to the club as GK coach. Three former academy products as senior coaches is interesting. Jedinak was also praised for helping development of players at Villa whilst he was a coach there, great beard during his playing days too.
