Whatever basis has been used to assess the management of the footballing side of the business, someone has decided to make a change. It could be Daniel or it could be a representative of the Levy family...and it could be a short term appointment to deflect the flak of the forthcoming resolution of the management and DoF positions and resolution of Harry Kane's departure...or it could be a move to expand the executive management of the club and seek greater specialism. Currently, I'm sceptical. Munn has no experience of European football, let alone PL experience. His expertise seems to lie in Asia and whilst that's a market we should be seeking growth in, we need someone to shake the club up and get all elements running in line with a clear methodology of how to best exploit our position as a club with significant but not bottomless resources. To do that, he's going to need support from above and below and critically, a desire from everyone at the club to see it through. No more high maintenance coaches who don't last a season, no more bargain players that the coach won't pick and no more meaningless statements about DNA and Daring To Do when you don't mean a word of it. Run the thing effectively and efficiently and don't make short term decisions and let's see what we can achieve. COYS!
It's not exactly unusual for new directors to be appointed to boards. I imagine they brought in Paratici thinking he might be Board material but they've decided against that. Whether this new guy makes a difference who can know, but I don't think there are many obvious candidates for such a job so I'd be surprised if they didn't use a headhunter or similar in the search process.
A Brazilian source whose name is a minefield for typos (especially since my left hand currently looks like John Doe's from Seven, don't ask...) claims that Marcelo Gallardo is set to become Chelsea manager Todd Bollo is lurking on r/coys to draw up his managerial shortlist, isn't he?
I'm assuming that Christophe Galtier has been quietly shuffled off any shortlist after reports of him being a massive racist came out yesterday
This is the thing about Bild's business model which is incredibly confusing Bild is the newspaper wing of their business model, so if it says something there is usually something to it Bild Sport is the talkBALLS wing of their business model, so if it says something it's best to wait for any better source makes the same claim without quoting them If it was Bild who said he rejected an offer, we accept he's waiting for the Los Ladrones or Barca jobs this summer and move on If it was Sport Bild who said he rejected an offer, we cling to the slim hope that he realises neither of those clubs are projects and more a live theatre production of Cannibal Holocaust
I wouldn't be surprised if there's probably an element of truth to it even if just deducing it on the basis that there might be some very appealing jobs in the summer and right now with there being limbo over our best player's future, fan unrest and a team in need of a serious clear-out as well as much needed help, you can see why an in-demand manager may bide their time and reject any approaches from us right now. I'm not overly bothered though if it is true, he was my preferred choice but I've said a few times there's a good 7-8+ managers who I think could do well here if given the resources and time.
Maybe that's what we need? Break the mould completely and sign 7 managers at the same time! Then just sack one at a time over the coming months....
Apparently, Munn isn't due to start with us until 1 July. There's likely to be a change in the DoF position this summer as well as this new appointment. It'll be absolute chaos for a season, at least. You'd have to be mad or extremely desperate to step into that situation, without even considering the potential departure of Harry Kane. Brendan Rogers might want it, or possibly Potter, after their stock diminishing this season...but Nagelsmann will get a lot better offers.
I know I’m in a very small minority but I wouldn’t hate the appointments of Potter or Rodgers (I know the latter is a HUGE minority too). I think we’re probably the right size and right project type of club for both to excel*. They may also be the types of managers who wouldn’t be deterred if they’re made aware they may not have Kane either. Whereas a Conte or Jose type, even a Nagelsmann too, may think “**** that” if they know the star player is off. *on the basis we back them thoroughly and give them time with 4+ year contracts.
If Rodgers becomes our manager I will hunt you down and hurt you for making it happen. He is one huge cock womble of a man who has the most slappable face in football...and that is some feat btw
lol if rodgers is your next manager, that's probably as big as a mistake as us making fat frank the manager.
lol i don't see how they think rodgers is sensible. Yea he nearly got top 4 and did win a cup (guess thats a positive). He's also get this slightly stale leicester squad with loads of potential relegated, his footie strikes from sublime to atrocious once found out and thats talking about the footie side. As a personality and a man you i think i prefer jose which tells you it all really
On the other hand, a manager like Nagelsmann has the cache (albeit a smaller cache compared to two of our last three managers...) to line up a replacement if we lose a key player in the way that Rodgers cannot - after all, Rodgers has spent this season proving he can't encourage players he already has to sign contracts
