    Irving Scholar.

How many times do people have to tell you this
before you actually remember it ??

IMHO there is a "lost in translation" issue here.
    Unfortunately it becomes hack fodder.

If Conte stated in Italian what he wants to say, I suspect
that a fluent biingual speaker would give quite
a different statement in English than those being put out.

You are assuming every other club we are competing against follows the Spurs business model and operates staunchly within it`s means at all times, that is not the case, almost every other club spends more as a percentage of revenue than Spurs do (see wages as all the proof you need). With what Spurs are competing with, that business model will never bring consistent success and silverware, which is why we desperately need rid of ENIC, Lewis and Levy. Twenty years of ENIC has provided new infrastructure, a London entertainment venue and cash cow for the owners, along with zero success on the pitch. Some of our fans have lost sight of the fact that Tottenham Hotspur should be a football club first, and a business venture for the owners second, not the other way around. Revenue is also not directly relative to success, it is possible to build a winning team by signings the right players at the right time, wise recruitment along with significant investment into the playing squad is the key, and ENIC have failed miserably at both.

Was Irving Scholar chairman of THFC before 1960 ??

If so, you are correct in what you wrote.

If not, you are spouting rubbish. Rubbish that you have
been corrected on by me and others at least once.

The disparity in our revenue to wages is due to the new stadium.
It's making us more money, but it needs to be paid for.
We're still in a far better position than before we built it and can spend more on players.
The clubs has done so in the last few windows, just not very well.

If Levy were to sell up, then we'd be looking at becoming a dictator's plaything.
It's that or the risk of some American billionaires who would do the same thing that Levy does, at best.

As for revenue not being directly relative to success, all recent league tables suggest otherwise.
Look at who spends the most and they clog up the top of the league.
Even Leicester getting a freak result did so after vastly overspending, going bankrupt and doing it again.

If you actually think any of that is relevant it is hardly surprising that you get to the wrong answer!
Irving Scholar might have had some similar objective but he was so far from achieving it that he doesn't count

Nearly killed the club. Ambition has to be tempered by realism.

So having ambition but not achieving it does not "count" as ambition ??

No. Ambition is only truly there if there is a rational plan to make things better. Scholar had ideas but no plan. If ENIC fail it won't be for the lack of an ambitious plan based entirely in reality.

Beautiful post match interview from Conte.

I think something special is about to happen next season.

He's basically saying that he's not here to hold space in the middle position in the league, he wants to compete for the biggest things. His recent outburst was not a threat of leaving, but a rallying cry for the team.

We now have every chance of getting top four as we play most of the teams still competing for it. Hopefully the form of Conte's first nine games can now be improved upon moving forwards.

The icing on the cake, and maybe an even bigger statement of intent, would be to win the cup that we are still in. Imagine starting next season having already won silverware. Imagine Bale, Eriksen, Dybala, Botman and Kessie all signing. Imagine all of the trophy cabinet jokes just ceasing in one…..

Yeah I know, its the hope that kills.<laugh>

I wouldn’t say it was the first time, considering our players were physically capable of playing ninety minutes by the end of December

    ...with one obvious exception

Anyone who thought Conte walked through the door with the intention of scraping top 4 Spurs style were obviously wrong.

You knew that without him saying anything.

So he believes that this season not finishing top 4
'Conte style' is more important than doing so "Spurs style" ??

If so, and by doing so Spurs are not in the CL next
season, will you be fully at ease with that (and any
    consequences therein) ??

I’m talking about the bigger picture and he wants to win the league

    it’s as simple as that

not here to have a team good enough to scrape top 4

this season he joined mid season…not his team…that requires work and has to be factored in when judging Conte.

Next season he wants a team to be challenging for the title because that’s why he came here.
