Well, I had Ardiles in instead of Dier and Hoddle instead of Dele. So that means Roberts instead of Dembele and Waddle ahead of Son. I don't think so. And Clemence instead of Lloris....no way. Jennings yes, Thorstvedt maybe.
I don’t want Benitez but he’s the best of a bad bunch now Rodgers, Nagelsmann and Ten Hag are no longer options Spurs appointing Potter would be a joke. The club are trying to raise their global profile, appointing a man who’s never won anything of note and most people outside of England or Sweden have never heard of would do the opposite.
80's/Poch Best of..... Clemence Stevie P Roberts Vetonghen Hughton Dembele Hoddle Son Ardiles Waddle Kane Simples!
Potter's on the up, much like Poch in 2014. He plays the right football and gets performances out of limited players. Currently, we're in serious decline and can forget thoughts of challenging for titles and the CL for a few years. We will be losing HK and need to integrate Skippy, Scarlett Sessegnon, etc. and create a new team for a new decade. Benitez has been managing in China...because he's in semi-retirement. He has a habit of falling out with his bosses over transfers, which is a red flag given 'Our Daniel'...plus, his football's dreadful to watch. He's a caretaker, short term appointment, like Mourinho was...and that was a total fiasco. I'd have Parker before Benitez...Mason, too.
Jose’s won more or less everything in the game and yet you wanted him out from day one. Now you want Benitez who’s won less than Jose and has a fairly similar style to Jose just not as good. Doesn’t make sense to me. His last two jobs have been Newcastle and Dalian Professional, it’s pretty telling that despite his winners CV no top sides seem overly interested in him. Pochettino had won nothing and is among many Spurs fan’s favourite managers of recent times. The biggest side in France recently hired him despite still having no trophies on his CV. Bayern have just paid a record fee for a manager who’s also won nothing so far in his career. Clubs are clearly seeing the potential in these younger, progressive managers and that’s why I’d be happy to give Potter a shot as he’s in that very mould. What he done in Sweden is actually incredible and probably doesn’t get the credit it deserves.
This is another reason why I want someone like Potter or similar. We need a coach as much as a manager and someone who’ll be willing to invest time into these younger players. Whether some fans like it or not, we are in need of another project and with hindsight, managers like Jose or Benitez aren’t the types you’d want for that. Jose especially is who you’d want to complete that project towards the end but he’s not someone who can begin it and get it going. Jose would’ve been perfect for Spurs around 2017, he likely would’ve got that squad over the line and won the title or at least a cup but he wouldn’t have been able to do what Poch did in those first few years getting them all there. So right now we need another “Poch”, not another “Jose”. At least that’s how I see it anyway.
Appoint Potter, sell Kane and Son and integrate the youngsters I’m sorry but that’s not what I want to see for the foreseeable. Spurs need someone who is globally respected and known. Graham Potter isn’t the answer for any side that wants to be taken seriously. Comparing him to Nagelsmann or Poch is beyond funny
We definitely need a manager who has the ability to turn turds into gold because he won’t be getting much meaningful backing from Levy. Might grab a Bogof and one for the future who we won’t see ever again, maybe against Rochdale in the league cup. Yeah, I can see why there’s no queue for the prestigious job at Super League elect, Spurs.
I’d say you wanting the B-tech Mourinho is funnier, having spent the last 17 months telling everyone you didn’t like the original.
whoever it is, it will end in heartbreak for us all as usual and Sissoko will still be with us because Levy wants his 30 mill back whilst having offered Real Madrid £6 million for Raphael Varane Bookmark my post King
Reading up about this Ragnerok bloke and I’m not gonna lie...he’s interesting me. The man who created the Gurgenpress and has an eye for talent. Tempting
I don’t want Benitez but he’s a better choice than Potter. The profile and reputation of the next manager is crucial for the commercial side of Spurs.
Sorry but that's just bullshit. What is more crucial to the commercial success of your club is the profile of the team and what they achieve. The name of the manager means nothing to sponsors as long as the team/club are in the spotlight of success.
You can’t get to the CL final in June 2019 and less than 2 years later take a huge risk on a relatively unknown and definitely unproven manager like Graham Potter. Tbh if Spurs are gonna do down that sort of route (hope they’re not) then why not Eddie Howe? Rafa Benitez is far from ideal but he would steady the ship short term and command respect from players.
Blimey Steve Perryman is my favourite Spurs player of all time but picking him over Kyle Walker is bonkers. Chris Hughton and Danny Rose is a close call. As is Roberts v Alderwiereld. Clemence instead of Lloris doesn't work for me. And I'd have either Eriksen or Dele instead of Waddle.
