Wigan amazingly now have three straight home games (vs Liverpool, Newcastle and Norwich) before an away trip to QPR. Given those fixtures, today's win could turn out to be the start of their annual survival run.
If they want to catch us, then yes I agree that they must beat us. But to finish 17th, I don't think a win for them is a must. They need to win at least five more games, but almost certainly six. Maybe, maybe, maybe even seven. But after us, they will still have Sunderland, Villa, Fulham, Wigan, Everton, Stoke, Reading, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool. As tough as it will be, there are potentially those 5 to 7 wins in that lot. I still wont be writing them off if they walk off the pitch at SMS without any points.
And they follow that with QPR away. It's there for the taking, if they have the quality. Both Reading and Villa have difficult games next week, in Everton away and City home, respectively; should we take something tomorrow, we could have the opportunity to put ourselves three results clear against QPR.
Whoa. Save for Swindon, there's scarcely anything between them in terms of goal differential, either.
Results were good for us again. Happy for Wigan and Reading to keep swapping around 17th and 18th. I don't know how people still think QPR can save themselves...we might win a run of games and so could Reading and Wigan but can't see QPR doing it.
It's been so long since we've played a league game, do our player still remember that they beat the champions? Is there any lingering winner's confidence left for tomorrow?
