My prediction is that by this time next year Stan Collymore will beat up his partner and go on a Raul Moat like rampage.
FFP goes back 3 years, mate. We were in such a ridiculous profit situation we could spend about £200m for the next three years and still be well within the rules. That's without taking into account the advertising and commercial revenue we're about to achieve. New kit with Nike? Aramco shirt sponsors? Darsley melted down for parts and replaced by the PIF Development Centre?
Yes and lets be honest the penalties for breaching the rules are financial, so it's not something they can't simply add into their mathematics should worst come to worst and they get rumbled. The haters are in a emotional defensive position. The first stage was questioning the takeover rumour, then they switched to suggesting the fit and proper persons test would be an issue , now we're at the stage they are telling themselves FFP will prevent them from getting anywhere and even that players won't go to the North East. I believe the next thing will be to roll with money doesn't buy trophies and they will still never win anything, but if we do they will finally give up on anything , but the human rights and money is ruining the game moaning that will run along side all these things throughout.
We could get even more creative. Keep Lee Charnley on the books, put him in the stocks outside SJP and charge supporters 20p a throw to hurl rotten vegetables at him. £1 for a brick. Make a fortune and get rid of all the stockpiled food at the same time!
As has been pointed out, the whole point of PIF is to diversify from oil in order to bring in funds from other sources. So the price crash won't stop the deal going ahead. What it might do, however, is bring forward the date at which Newcastle is required to be an asset that returns a profit. If only there were someone who were experienced in turning NUFC into a revenue generator. Step forward our new CEO, on behalf of PIF, Mayik Al-Asley
