Starting you higher up than tier 9 would be quite special treatment. - They started AFC Wmbledon & FC United of Manchester at either tier 9 or 10 (I forget) - the latter has an 12,000 seater stadium, neither has health and safety issues. Speaking of Stadia, you'd only be playing on a patch of grass at home to start with, let alone away - Fratton Park would persumably be sold by the liqidator. Just be thankful that they start you 1 or 2 rungs above the bottom of the National league system. If Celtic & Rangers decided to Join the English league system tommorrow, I'd want them to start at least there at tier 11.

Fair enough, but as Southern League Division One South and West is Tier 8, it wouldn't be that much of a favour <whistle>

I'm not sure about 5-6000 but possibly a couple of thousand. I really hope your guys don't get liquidated because if you emerge as AFC Pompey it will be a while before we see you again. I hope a owner does buy you. The problem i have with your supporters buying your club is that investment doesn't stop once you have bought the club. Your manager will want money for signings and other things which your supporters will not be able to do. If you are around next season it could be a Plymouth where you get relegated again for consolidation for a couple of seasons while you rebuild.

It's perfectly possible that you end up in the Southern league instead of the Wessex league; it depends on the infrastucture you can build as a phoenix club. At that level they have rules about infrastructure for promotion & relegation. The Southern league is a semi-pro league with a big sponsor. Thinking back, I believe that Wimbledon & United started lower so that they could start straight away and not have to build a big stadium etc. immidiately - lower tiers obviously need less infrastructure. In short Pompey may have to start lower just to keep up the momentum behind a phoenix club playing on a patch of grass whilst a new stadium is built.
Of course, I hope none of the above happens, but I really don't see who would want to buy Pompey in your current state.

No it wouldn't. Farnborough reformed in tier 8 and they were in Conference South when they were liquidated.

Fair enough, I didn't know that - As I said it depends on the kinds of facilities you can start the season with. Also you might be able to reform faster and start in tier 9\10 or wait a season or two before you have the infrastructure for tier 8. Either way, good luck with the phoenix club if that's the way you go.
