This is because women evolved natural painkillers to deal with childbirth. Men have no such immunity and our evolved skills involved hunting and gathering. This is why we have conceptual thinking to a far greater degree than women, which explains the lack of female chess mistresses. True. I said this when my sister was giving birth. She got all scientific and went for the practical, i.e. she punched me in the nuts. Woman are surprisingly strong during childbirth. I was not given an epidural.
