I think the price may have been to much aswell beacuse burnley had a great oppertunity to reach the play offs and so burnley quite rightly basically say p*** off! I think that will be a lot different in the summer but we will have a lot of competition for his signature, thats if were to go for him Cromer, if i had my way i would have both here
rhodes has gone off the boil of late. also, when you consider his value compared to rodriguez, there isn't much in it, yet he's not really played more than a handful of games at championship level whereas jay rod has scored goals at that level for years now. we all know from experience, plahyers from league one can make the jump up but rodriguez is also a much better all round player from what i've seen. rhodes is a good player who could get better and perform at the top level - rodriguez is a good player who is getting better and better every season and is, i believe, already good enough to make an instant impact in the premier league. good feet, good pace, good in the air - he needs to move on now to further his career and i think norwich would be a good place to go (obviously ). could be a future england striker in my eyes
Some interesting thoughts. My main purpose in raising the issue was because I personally feel that there will be a lot of movement in and out in the course of the summer - far more than many people think although, of course, I could be wrong, As a generality City fans are delighted to welcome newcomers but are reluctant to wave goodbye to anyone but in very simple terms with the restricted squad numbers if 8 or 10 come in then 8 or 10 have to go out. This is particularly important to City as I do not think we have any youngsters at this moment in time, apart from the goalkeepers, who are good enough to play in the Premiership and can therefore supplement the squad. In actual fact, as I said in my initial post, I suspect that as we have stayed up PL will try and sell Korey-Smith, Adeyemi and Francomb. I just hope that when the ' goings ' start we don't get a stream of posts along the lines of ' we should have given him another chance, he has a lovely attitude and we should have sent him out on loan to give him games' We are stuck with a squad of 24 plus any youngsters PL can borrow from the big boys and there will no no room for passengers. I deliberately did not raise my views on who should come in mainly because I haven't got any idea. It is interesting that PL wants 8 and I will leave it to him. There is the usual rush of ideas of ideal strikers from lower divisions but I do advise caution as there is no guarantee that a player who scores for fun for one club or in one division will do it elsewhere. I recall a clamour last year for Nicky Maynard and CMS. In the end they moved sideways to other Championship Clubs with very limited success. Would you want them now? Paynter, Simon Cox , Nugent - I could go on and on. Cody got 30 goals in Div 2 - has he done it in the Championship? I suspect that if PL is looking for just 1 striker he will try and get somebody who has at least played a few games in the Premiership.
very sensible post 1950 i still believe he will target 'the best outside the top flight' but there could be one or two come in from the top flight. wages will be the issue there though - the club won't blow their wage cap out of the water, not for anyone. it will increase in the summer i'm sure, as the club becomes more stable it will continue to increase, but don't expect marquee signings.
Heard Vaughan was in the squad for the reserves. Bridcutt would be an interesting addition Johnson hasn't played too badly in the past two games but he had a phase around the Sunderland game where he switched off, competition for places would help a great deal. As for players I hope NORWICHFANNOTON606 is right Lambert has uncovered some homegrown gems, but there are some excellent foreign players and lets remember British players are never cheap and in my opinion over priced.
For a foreign player, I like this guy. Very good in champions league qualifying. He's quick and direct and only young. Plays with a smile on his face. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHJRpZUI47A&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Shame, but looks like Vaughan didn't make the trip with the reserves in what was their last match of the season. Would be a bit risky to include him in any first team squads now, wouldn't it? I guess he'll end the season somewhat in limbo.
The kids got some tekkers that's for sure. Twente have champions league football and are an established Dutch team I can imagine his on some change or would like to hang around for a bit. Seeing the footage I totally forgot about the accident at Twente's ground.
**** me mate, were you taught English at school ? Don't you do paragraphs ? I gave up halfway through your post
I find that offensive. I was taught English at a far better school than you probably ever visited. You need a new paragraph when the subject content changes and when that happened I produced a new paragraph. Perhaps the school you went to did not explain the difference between a paragraph and a sentence!!
I was supping my fifth pint of Stella when I posted that last night, plus I had just had to clear up after the cat because she'd just been sick on the carpet ! Please accept my apologies 1950 P.S. For your information I went to a Comprehensive School, although I did get an 'O' level in English language
Apology readily accepted. I won't tell you where I was educated as none of you would speak to me again!!! I have, however, agreed that my English does need sharpening up and so am trying to enroll in the 6th form at St Trinians - I have confirmed that I am happy to share a dorm.
