Does anybody else, when logging onto this site get a warning that a `Malware` has been thwarted? I`m not that `au-fait` with computers but I find it disconcerting that every time I come on here I get this warning!

Not me mate, but I know the site is prone to viruses because of all the active banners they have! The Malware is often a fake virus which gets you to run a progamme which inturn loads a virus so be careful. My mate did this and then paid £100 for the software (Dickhead) the programme told him he needed - clown!

Best thing to do is just close down the pop up and run a system check with you anti virus software. If you havent got any (which might be why the pop is getting through) is download one of the free trials, AVG do one but there are others. Failing that mate check in your add and remove programmes that there is nothing there untoward!

Don't worry about it. Its quite often just a webpage that has a picture of a virus warning, I don't think your computer would warn you if you actually have a virus. Just don't buy any of these so-called solutions. There's a scam circulating that says that you need to pay €100 to clear your computer of 'juvenile porn'. Also, if you do have an anti-virus, it may flag normal activity as being dangerous; safety first approach.

And finally, no I don't get the warning either.

If you need more detailed advice, just ask, I'm good with computers

It's called 'fright mail Joe, lots of free software about - try malware, both free and effective

Nick

I have zero problems with these pop ups etc.. Used AVG for a while now.. I guess it's a personal choice and there are lots out there.

P.S. Nice to see you back on here Nick! Hope things are going well? <ok>

i used to work witha proper pc junkie and hacker and he used to use Avast ... so if it was good enuff for him it was for for me too !
he really knew his stuff !!

Hi Chaps,
Further to Joe's thread on malware, if this stuff comes up again the following software is 100% efficient (and free)

http://www.malwarebytes.org/Anti-Malware/

I also have AVG on my mobile/computer but some of the trickier malware programs can and will bypass AVG and Norton etc etc.

Just saying :emoticon-0100-smile:emoticon-0100-smile:emoticon-0100-smile

Thanks for the info.Nick, I`ll pass it onto the bride, as before anything out of the ordinary is done on this computer, it has to be approved by the boss.Life`s too short to do something without consent

Joe,
It's easy mate, you let you wife think she's the boss, and all's well that ends well. <whistle> If like me you have already been down that road... where's me trousers gone now. <laugh> WE sometime's think we can't live with em Joe but we're sure as hell knackered without em too! Last virus I picked up kept me in bed for almost a week! Man flu!
