Our owners have recently (in the past month) stated they have no interest in football either, not that I believe this is particularly relevant. Although substantial debts, a British spine of players, being a relatively 'unfashionable club', a manager getting the very best out of players all, in my humble opinion, means the comparisons may have *some* justification. It also reminds me a little of what has traditionally happened at Atletico. I wonder how many of their players will hang around, it'll be interesting to see.
Let me clarify a few things, since you (understandably) don't know the details of our finances. At the end of last season, we had £27 million to pay on transfers. During that season we paid £22 million. This season, we were scheduled to pay £21 million. Wages to turnover were at 65%, and we've taken £80 million in tv money. It's certainly not the case that we "haven't paid for our players."
True to a point re the owners. But i just dont think the daughter @ Saints has any interest other than selling up.
Sry guys but no meltdown here. MP has gone and we might lose Shaw and Lallana for around 70m. We will still have a great squad and have five players representing England in U19 and U20 tournaments. We will be fine.
I'm certain Soton have some cracking players in the reserves who can easily replace the big name players, they always seem to. And it's not like their non-English players are rubbish is it? They've got some great players in there amongst the big names.
The Saints will be fine. There is no need for a sale. The training ground and academy are/will be just about the best in Europe. Player values are high and then if the club can find a suitable manager, they have a great chance of repeating the success of this season.
