Ideal scenario is this, Sunderland and United finish 1-1. We're running a bit late due to Carlos Tevez refusing to come out for the 2nd half unless he gets a pay rise. City are 1-0 up as we go into injury time, all the United players are back in the dressing room watching on TV, in the 6th minute of only 4 added we get a free-kick. It's curled in by Barton, Derry goes up and feels a finger-tip touch his shirt, throws his legs out behind him and falls to the ground. The ref blows for a penalty that never was, Clint Hill takes the ball, steps up and smacks it against the post, the ball rolls along the line but clearly doesn't go over. The Assistant Referee though thinks it has and waves his flag to indicate a goal, goal given, 1-1, the ref blows for full-time.
    ha! this!!

Franckster - we could have a very lively thread about the relative merits of Man U v Man City based just on what you've said.

Utd have lucked out by having superstars such as George Best and David Beckham that made them internationally popular (even in the 25 odd years that they never won anything). They weren't bought for anything other than footballing potential so anything else is entirely fortuitous. They enhance this by having a good marketing plan and close season tours. Their business model is perpetuated by Sky who insist on showing their games every single week thus giving them a fixed, broad audience.

City have come through a similar length of time without a league title (approx 35) and have maintained a loyal fanbase despite little media coverage.

In short, Man U have had luck in consistent bursts throughout history to the point where they are a juggernaut in full force (and can carry owners who don't have their best interests at heart). Man City have got very lucky with their rich owners in a very short space of time.

Which one is luckier and which is fairer. Who deserves it more?

A nice aside from double guessing Hughes and City's tactics anyway....

Sorry mate...I was in the pub on the other side of the world in one of us smaller cities, and there were at around 100 or so man city top wearing supporters, many of whom couldn't even speak English.

Agree with the basic cincept of the posty though....Personallly a Manure loss and a draw would be my preference.
I'd imagine the numbers to be doubled or trebled in Sydney and Melbourne.
    Think you're a little out on this one mate.;

Dont get me wrong....im not supporting Man Ure winning titles....I cant stand them and their fans thinking they are the ONLY football team in the world.

My point was, that Utd havent bought the league in the same way City have this season.....you cant tell me that Man City's worldwide fan base is anywhere near that of Utd's.

Man City will be the dominating force in English football for the next few years, as they will buy the VERY best, financed not through the club's building of a brand, but their rediculously wealthy owners...so for me I dont care who wins, as I wouldnt want either of them to win.

All I care about is QPR staying up and if that means City loose the title....bothered! :)

The really annoying thing about Man City is they actually had probably the best youth set-up in the country before the Sheikhs arrived, that has been somewhat ignored since all the big signings came in and some real talent has been denied the opportunity to gain valuable experience, this affects the national team as well. At least United develop their young players and integrate them into their team...

Well now we have the man who set up most of their infrastructure for them. City, United, Chelsea, Liverpool all as bad as each other in creating a stupid transfer market. At least Utd have got some home grown players and buy younger players and make them better. Could not care less who wins as long as we stay up.
DL, most neutrals across Europe definitely want Bayern to win the CL, as they see it as a club rooted in its community and country, and Chelsea the exact opposite - a rich mans toy, desparate to buy success, the person who started the rot followed at City, PSG and that Russian club. What kind of reaction would I get if I posted this on the Chelsea board?

I want QPR to win you fickle fairies or at least get a draw. I do not want Man City to win the title as that means them beating us. I think Man Utd deserve to be who they are ... I am clever enough to know that Ashley Young is not Man Utd. What Utd did with the home grown player id fantastic ... City are buying the title ... If we ever become a Man City I would never pay to watch QPR again ... I would follow AFC Wimbledon and French football.

Is it me or do you always come back from France in more combative mode?
Thanks for the Grinderman 2 pointer - had missed its release. Outstanding stuff.
