due to the fact that work has told me to have a holiday and the wife keeps nagging me to see my mum before she dies i will be flying to london next week
as luck would have it we have two home games while i am there sheffield wednesday and aston villa
i will be going to both so hope to meet some of you at last

anyway
i left in 2003 and this will be my first return trip
i have a week in london
a week in ireland
5 more days in london

what has changed in london in 15 years
what should i go to see
i will most likely do the tourist stuff i never did while living there
tourist bus /river cruise etc but does anyone have any other suggestions for west london

is the stadium tour worth doing

I too am 'back home' next week for an enforced visit after only a mere 3.5 years away outside the UK

I'm also hoping to get to the Wednesday game at HQ and strangely enough am also going with my daughter to the Wednesday v Boro game next Friday as it's not far from my home

Maybe get to meet up with some of you at the Wednesday game. Last time i think was a few years back when we all met up for the Brum match

That’s a pisser, I would have made the effort to get to a game to meet up with you lads, but of course I am off to the the US on holiday for two weeks next Monday.

Anyway, I’ve alerted the Border Security chaps and the cells are being sprayed down in anticipation of your arrival.

If you can divert the aircraft via the Gold Coast here in Oz, l promise not to make any noise stowed in the overhead luggage compartments.

I would nearly kill to venture over and visit the ground, along with a visit up the East Kirkby Lincolnshire to visit 630 Sqn base with my father flew.

Anyway, enough about me, have a great time buddy.

The Shard is worth going to it for the views over the city.....London eye is ok but whole area crowded and full of Italian and French tourists, haven’t been to the museum of London but heard it’s well worth a visit.
Also they have the new ‘Bodyworlds’ exhibit in Piccadilly which looks good if that sort of thing interests you.....personally I think it’ll be fascinating and looking forward to going.

I had a few days back in London as a tourist last summer. Admittedly, we were quite kid focused, so did the Science Museum, which is fascinating even as an adult. We also went to see the changing of the guard and my son loved it. Good to see and nice to be amongst the hundreds of other South East Asian tourists who were there. Biggest change will probably be around White City. Westfield and other developments have made the area much nicer, and you can actually have a decent meal and drink just a short walk from the ground.

Otherwise we just strolled around and felt nostalgic for our years living in London before we moved. We then had to commute home and realised what we don't miss, you forget how massive the place is!

Book in advance for bodyworks, we tried on Saturday and the queues were horrendous...and gave up.

Museum of London is good..
I like Science museum...but I would wouldn't I.

Eye is fun, not been up the Shard. Been on the amphibious bus that goes into the Thames, it was great....I can't remember the name but maybe banned now, after people died on it ( not in London).

Let me know where we are meeting for the pub meet up Kiwi...will try and get along

The fact that the giant Westfield London shopping centre is slap bang in the middle of the Bush (literally up against the terrace house I was born in just off the Green itself) never ceases to amaze me and is a testament to how much the area has changed in the last 20 years. It's all a bit expensive for my taste but what with the Brexshit currency bonus for all you foreigners you might find it both fascinating and affordable. The ground itself has not changed one jot other than vast amounts of seating in the Ellerslie and elsewhere being lost to the media demands of our abortive adventures in the Premier League. Oh, and the gents toilets now have soap dispensers, so yes, the stadium tour is a must :)

Kiwi, safe journey mate.....

If you were thinking about going to the Odeon on the Green to watch a film you're a bit late as it's now a rather plush hotel, decent bar and restaurant in there mind......
