From the Daily Malice yesterday The EFL is aware that Charlton has been up for sale since last year and is the subject of a takeover bid from the Australian Football Consortium. Lieven De Turck, Duchatelet's spokesperson, has said that 'the Australian consortium have a deal fully agreed and just need to submit final papers to the EFL'. Sportsmail understands, however, that a deal has not been reached and the parties are some way from agreeing on a price, with Duchatelet suggested as wanting £35m. The consortium is thought to be prepared to pay only £25m.
Just to remind everyone - It’s now 3 and a half months since the Aussie spokesman went public predicting the takeover “next week”. 18th May
Clive Efford MP lucky enough to draw a question in Parliament this morning to the Sports Minister. I waited with baited breath.....he asked about Wembley Stadium. Nice one Clive
He did request anyone working at the Valley with issues regarding the bonuses to get in touch with him. Could well be no one did so. Or that the whole affair is being negotiated and he was advised to let it go for the moment. The whole bonuses thing has gone very quiet lately. I asked on CL if anyone had any news and got a terse two word reply from Airman to the effect that its being discussed - don't know if that is a negotiation or a threat of industrial action. But either way, probably not the best moment for the local MP to raise it.
Reams has started a cracking rumour over on ITTV with the help of a Daily Mirror article; https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/alisher-usmanov-set-use-600million-13204265 Alisher Usmanov could be about to buy Charlton Athletic! I'm no fan of buying success. But that point aside, even the possibility of Usmanov as CAFC owner is beyond my ability to get my head around. Imagine David Dein in the board room and Arsene Wenger in the dug-out at the Valley? Stranger things have only very rarely happened even in Football...
Even Dr Kish is saying it.. he doesn't print rumours http://www.cafcpicks.com/cgi-bin/drkish/display.pl?month=201809&date=20180907&time=0624 Hackett-Fairchild out on loan
The Belgian has now reduced his asking price for CAFC to £20m...??… perhaps plus repayment of the £20m of loans making £40m in total?
Roland describing football as "Too irrational". That didn't come over in the Google translation. The article seems to be based on speculation, the sort where if it comes off, the Mirror will trumpet the scoop, if it doesn't you never hear about it again.
What got overlooked in the article from the Evening Standard is that Dushitelet was quoted as saying "not in a hurry" to be selling his clubs.
