No problem taking the so called "upgrade", just had to logon again, but the look and feel is pretty awful, but at least it's now up and working and I haven't lost all my buddies on here, or my "imaginary friends" that my ex-wife used to call you lot, before I met many of you for the Charlton Athletic match, Nov 23rd 2013 pre-match at the Crown & Sceptre and post match at the Coningham Arms with Finglas and the Irish R's celebrating a 1-0 victory, thanks to a Charlie Austin wonder strike with Ben Hamer in goal for a Charlton.

I don't understand the need for change, and it seems awful for now, but so did Gmail when they last updated that, and Hotmail before that, and the BBC website, and the QPR website, the list goes on...but it is amazing how quickly the brain adapts.

I think the mechanics behind the previous version were grievously out of date, and this is what the architects of off the shelf sites like this are doing now. The owner of the site didn’t have much say.

An upgrade from the old software had to happen or the site would have slowly died - it's been literally out of support for years, running on old deprecated versions of php, linux images etc. The reason it took years to upgrade was because it was hard - a lot of customisations were made to the old software to make it better and porting all of those was either impossible or took dev time. So I had to bite the bullet and just go for it at some stage, then try to react and update the new software to try remove the kinks that people don't like.

Now we're on new software we can change things again and importantly start fixing bugs with third party plug ins (everything from signing in with google to being able to automatically embed media from third party sites) - but yeah this doesn't have to be the final form of the website.

Had me going & nodding in agreement until the last sentence, you blew it!

Am pleased to see that I am not the only one surprised and frustrated with this improvement.

“It it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!”
