For me only 1 serious contender, Rafa, as for some of the other names I think they're having a laugh

Again, thats down to opinion. Under Steve Bruce, the one thing he has brought us is PL stability, and I'm certainly not worried by a relegation fight. FFS's man....we've only played 12 games!
If yous lads were Everton fans, I dare say yous would have all been MoB's this time last year!!

Lee Clark 8/1. Don't be freaking stupid. He doing great at Huddesfield but FFS.
I honestly think Curbishly is due a chance somewhere. Always been a solid manager and a little suprised he's still out of work still.

I bet you were saying the same thing under McMenemy and McCarthy as well? Dont worry it will all be okay.

Can I askl you with what evidence you boldly state Bruce has brought us stability? Up until the Wigan game last season we were right in the ****e. 4 games after it the season ended and we were only 8 points off a Championship place. 3 games from the drop?

I think you are confusing the 10th place with success when in reality we were actually closer to the drop last season than the previous one.

Admittedly this is only 12 games into the season but we have now won 2 games out of 14 at home under Bruce and our form has been cak since January this year. Our home form and results under Bruce are some of the very worst I've seen in my lifetime and I fail to see what optimistic stance you have managed to gleam from our games thus far. We have had spell in about 4 games where we played okay but of those games, Liverpool, Mags, Man Utd and Arsenal, we have 1 point to show for it.

You continue to keep your head well and truly buried in the sand. I will keep pointing out the frailties in your arguments.

MON 2nd only to Wenger and Fergie...isn't that 3rd then?

Anyway sorry for being pedantic. The point I want to make is that Benitez, Vialli and especially Houllier and Mourinho have all won more than O'Neil in reality.

    Houllier 1 x Uefa Cup, 1 x FA Cup, 2 x League cups - that's just in England.

Mourinho - do we really need to list them all?

    Vialli - 1 x League Cup, 1 x FA Cup, 1 x Cupwinners Cup

    Benitez - 1 x Champions League trophy, 1 x FA Cup

    O'Neill - 2 x League Cups

McLaren took 'Boro to the Uefa Cup Final to go with his League Cup trophy, even McLeish has a League Cup trophy to his name as do Juande Ramos, George Graham (x2), Graham Souness, Ron Atkinson and Brian Little, not to mention Joe Royle having 1 x FA Cup under his belt, as does Carlo Ancelotti, Guus Hiddink, Roberto Mancini, and Harry Redknapp.

That's a stack of managers there that prove O'Neill isn't all he's cut out to be.

He lost the players respect at Villa and continuously looked to the board for more cash when things weren't going his way. Yes he lost Milner to City as well as Barry but a good manager has to overcome these things without spitting his dummy out.

You guys have had it tough, for quite a few years but you've established yourselves as a Premier League side, one that wants to move in the right direction. There's plenty of managers out there who will deliver the goods without a huge budget, plenty of managers who can take a club of your size into the Europa League but Martin O'Neill is not going to do that without ruining your club's structure.

I guarantee you Mark Hughes would take your club to the next level, I've said it many times already. He's not a Wenger or a Fergie but he's better than most of the managers in this league at getting the job done.

    Okay he's 3rd.
To be fair you've misquoted me to suit your reply which makes for a humerous reposte but doesnt answer any of the points.

I did say in Britain - he won much more in Scotland (ask Neil Lennon how hard that actually is) after breaking Rangers stranglehold inc a UEFA cup final. I also meant currently operating in the EPL, or living in the UK, available, willing to come back to the game here and none of the others currently are.

Also to pick up on your obvious love for Mark Hughes, what in comparison in the game has he won over MoN as a manager (or a player for that matter)?

MoN has an excellent C.V. and excellent stats. He has been incredibly successful and to be fair all of the above you mentioned required millions to achieve theri success whereas Martin O Neill didnt.

For me, Hughes or Rafa, although I don't think Rafa would be a very good fit with our club. I could see Hughes coming in and doing a good job, not to mention being our 3rd ex Man Utd player as manager in 5 seasons!

O'Neil is not that good guys...he did well at Villa, but he had a great team! I don't think he would do anything different to Bruce really, and not like he played exciting football either.

    > Hughes for me, Bruce now has these 3 games to change our season, otherwise I don't think many are left that could argue he can retain his position within our club.

The teams that Hughes have managed have never been pleasing on the eye, and his tactics are probably even more defensive than what we are getting from Bruce at the moment...

I'm baffled why Hughes would be favoured over o neill? He did nowt at man city and was peddled; nowt at blackburn of note; walked out in bizarre circumstances at Fulham and did his best work with Wales, away from the day to day EPL strains.

He is dull as **** and his football teams hardly entertain do they? He has never won a thing as a manager anywhere in the world of football either.

MoN on the other hand has a trophy cupboard cv full to the brim as a manager and has 3 top 6 finishes to his name in the last 5 years. He has taken 3 clubs to either domestic or European finals and wom 2 league cups with an unfashionable leicester city side with on money to spend and above all, has a place for us in his heart from a youth.

It's really not even a debatable point as to how perfect a fit we are for each other.

Fair point, Hughes has won nothing but my point was also to highlight all of the crap that do have trophies to their name such as Souness and Ramos.

I have misinterpreted your quote, even though you apparently meant, any manager who currently lives in the UK and wants to work in the Premier League I thought you meant - "O Neill has a CV second only to SAF and Wenger as far as winning trophies outside the title in Britain. Seeing that there have only been 3 managers to hold the title in the last 15 years that ain't bad company".

For info there's been 4 managers to hold title in the last 15 years. Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti.

Do you really want a list of managers who have taken their teams to Europa League finals because McLaren and Woy Hodgson both make the cut there?

I know you can only beat what's put in front of you but here's O'Neill's path to both cup final victories.

    1997

    Scarborough
    York
Man Utd - who were ridiculously disinterested in the competition at that time.
    Ipswich
    Wimbledon
Middlesboro - over two legs in the final

    2000

    Crystal Palace
    Grimsby
    Leeds - hard fixture
    Fulham
    Villa
    Tranmere Rovers in the final

Now here's who Man United had to get past in 2010

    Wolves
    Barnsley
    Spurs
    Manchester City
    Aston Villa final

Martin O'Neill's biggest achievement was turning around the fortunes of Aston Villa. Top 6 finishes consistently and robbed by Nemanja Vidic of a Carling Cup win. But he lost the plot, fielding a joke of a side in the Europe League tie and it went downhill from there, the moaning just never stopped.

Surely Hughes, completing a trio of ex-United players to go with your ex-United playing staff would be the obvious choice no?
