This We can all "hope" for a change of guard but both Man City and Chelsea will spend to enhance already good squads. Jose coming back to Chelsea isn't exactly a gamble either, he's been there done and won it! ManU have that mentality built into them after all these years Under Fergie, will take a right royal phuck-up from Moyes to mess that up.. Unless we improve mentality wise and squad wise I can see us finishing no higher than 6th and that will leave the likes of Spurs and Arsenal fighting it out for the final CL place again..
Plus, IMO our problem isn't the manager, it is the players and their mentality. I think we have a few players that think they are better than their limited abilities. I also think this is why we always **** up against the sides we should beat but always play well against the better sides too.
It'll be an interesting summer and first few months Three new managers in the current top 4 clubs City/Chelsea/Arsenal all claiming that they've got alot money to spend this summer to invest in the squads Chelsea need to improve their defense and main striker Arsenal need to improve...er...alot City need to buy some passion () to go with their mercenaries United need a new midfield and some defenders - also possibly replace Rooney who's been key over the last 8 years Spurs have something really positive to build from into next season (providing they keep hold of players like Bale) Liverpool likewise have something positive to build from into next season but need to replace a fair few players and keep hold of current ones Everton changing an 11 year period of stability and at risk of losing several key players That's just the top 7! Massive changes going on, gonna be like musical chairs imo. Could be really exciting...or knowing how my predictions normally work out, the dullest summer and new season start ever.
There's always talk of how much Arsenal can spend and they always spend **** all They really need to show some balls and go for some major signings at some point soon.
Benitez has aparently said Mourinho will have £100m to spend this summer at Chelsea this summer. We could see names like Falcoa and Cavani join them. Who ever takes over at City will be adopting a powerful squad. They could be managed by Pellegrini, Ancellotti, Benitez or another high profile name. AVB has shown great ambition and in getting a very nice style of play at Tottenham and I expect the club to back him in transfers to. Mountinho, Damiao, Hulk? Very possible. Arsenal will apparently give Wenger a £75m transker budget. Villa? A decent CB pairing at long last? Rodgers is getting us playing a nice style and is getting goals pumping out of our team, even with out a squad of world famous names. Fix the defensive issues and we can compete. I wont list names, this forum is full of them. Everton could climb or sink depending on their decisions. A lot of pressure will be on Moyes and it wont be easy for him to keep United at the very top. He will have a lot of huge competition. Next season will make great entertainment I feel. I am also intrigued by Pochettino at Southampton.
I can see chelsea becoming a real force again with Mourinho and a huge cash injection (Again) on new players. Likewise City will spend a fortune and can see Pelligrini doing well. Think United will finish 3rd or lower next season (feel free to bookmark, United fans) as Moyes, unlike SAF, will not get the squad playing as more than the sum of their average parts. As for Everton, they will slide down the table
re: southampton. if their owners spend like they did on gaston this summer they could right up the table but they need to improve an awful lot in defense. they coudl be good for sure. It's very unpredictable what will happen this summer let alone next year.
This is my feeling to. United's players individually for me are not as good as people think. Fergie just manages to get the best out of players and get the team working together. Will be a massive task for Moyes to do the same.
I think is a possibility that they'll finish lower, but not lower than third imo Too much quality in the squad (unfortunately!). Third would be good for them given such a huge change, I think most realistic United fans would take third in Moyes's first season - that's something really strong to build from.
Doesn't FFP come in 2014? I.e. after 2013/14 season? If that is the case, I see a lot of clubs with cash spending as much as possible this summer because they might not be able to next year. Saying that though, I'm sure there will be loopholes and abuse.
If you take managers out of the equation and look at the players by themselves I feel United have been overachieving for the last few years. I think most of the teams in the top 6 would have won the title with SAF at the helm tbh.
Ferguson made the most of the squad by rotation. Moyes at Everton didn't have a large squad so it remains to be seen how he adapts to this way of working.
Pochetino wanted Coutinho to. He may have got him if we hadnt got involved. He can see a talent and see it cheaper. Coutinho was half the price of Ramirez. Maybe we should offer them Suso on loan.
thing about suso is that he's got to play. we need two things. 1. clubs coming looking for our players cos they will improve thier sides 2. real partnerships with clubs where we can send a kid to. LFC have lacks stability so there are no relationships between a manager or two like say oh norwich, reading, southampton or even the likes of sunderland etc. if we've a sterling or a suso and they get 10 games from the start for us then nothing thats not much good.
"The UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations, which were approved in May 2010 after an extensive consultation period and updated in the 2012 edition, are being implemented over a three-year period, with clubs participating in UEFA club competitions having their transfer and employee payables monitored since the summer of 2011, and the break-even assessment covering the financial years ending 2012 and 2013 to be assessed during 2013/14." Can someone interpret UEFA-ese please? Big transfer spends in 2012 and 2013 to be assessed in 2013/14 - does this mean Citeh or Chavs have their hands tied? Citeh - 11/12 - £48mil out, 12/13 - £14mil out Chelsea - 11/12 - £62mil out, 12/13 - £72mil out Spuds - 11/12 - £27mil in, 12/13 - £1.3mil in United - 11/12 - £38mil out, 12/13 - £36mil out (doesn't include Zaha transfer) Gooners - 11/12 - £17mil in, 12/13 - £8.6mil out Liverpool - 11/12 - £35milout, 12/13 - £40mil out
