This sounds like good sense to me, we were all clamering for Danny Rose last year now its Alonso, who by the way I would love us to have both, but it all takes time. Much of this talk about rival interest comes from agents trying to apply pressure on prospective buyers, it is there job and they are well paid to do it. I am sure we will start signing players in good time, lets hope we sign starters this year and not developers ? as we have a few spaces to fill at present.
SWANSEA City are the latest club to be linked with a summer move for Sunderland target Marcos Alonso. The Black Cats are hoping to re-sign Alonso on a permanent deal after the left-back impressed on loan from Fiorentina during the second half of last season. Fiorentina are thought to be willing to offload Alonso, who has two years left to run on his contract with the Italian side, after he barely featured in Serie A following his arrival from Bolton last summer. West Ham have expressed an interest in Alonso, while reports yesterday suggested Swansea are also in the running for the Spaniard. But Alonso enjoyed his spell at the Stadium of Light and Sunderland will hope that proves to be decisive in their pursuit of the 23-year-old. Head coach Gus Poyet has previously indicated his eagerness to land Alonso permanently and told the Spanish press: âWe are doing everything possible so that Fiorentina give him to us.â
Thought without Diakite being part of the deal the fee was supposed to be nearer £4mil. How come it's now only £1.5 mil. If Alonso has been offered more money and the bright lights of London who can blame him for going there. PS, he'd be a c*nt if he did tho.
Alonso clearly wanted to sign. He was retweeting peoples tweets asking him to sign to SAFC official on Twitter. It looked like there was going to be some kind of swap deal involving Diakite towards the end of last season but they look less interested in Diakite now. We should just cough up the 4 million if this is what they are asking, he cant be on massive wages in Italy and wouldnt have been at Bolton previously so his wages demands cant be that high
http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/06/18/poyet-doing-everything-in-his-power-to-sign-defender-1/? Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has reassured Black Cats fans that he is doing everything within his power to sign Marcos Alonso on a permanent basis. The 23-year-old Spaniard spent the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland from parent club Fiorentina. After impressing at the Stadium of Light, Alonso is hot property and is expected to be the subject of a transfer battle between Sunderland and West Ham whilst his Serie A owners may also yet choose to keep him. #465783537 / gettyimages.com Alonso was a consistent performer during his six months at Sunderland and played a key part in the sides great escape from Premier League relegation as well as featuring in the League Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley. Despite reports claiming that West Ham are close to a deal on the defender, Poyet remains hopeful of capturing Alonso's signature. Poyet told Spanish publication MARCA; "I'm there with 'Marquitos' Alonso, I already had him for six months. We are doing everything possible so that Fiorentina give him to us" Sunderland are in desperate need to bolster their defensive ranks following the release of Phil Bardsley, Andrea Dossena and Carlos Cuellar. It's unlikely that Alonso would oppose a move to Sunderland on a permanent basis after settling in nicely on Wearside, but the Black Cats may struggle to compete with West Ham should the London club offer the Spaniard a large wage packet. West Ham have already rivalled Sunderland once this summer offering a reported £50,000 per-week deal to the out-of-contract Jack Colback before the 24-year-old eventually opted for a move across the North East to Newcastle United. As it stands the immediate future of the 23-year-old is unknown. Alonso is set to join up with Fiorentina for the beginning of their pre-season and the Serie A club may yet decide that they do not want to sell.
